the bag looks different in person. i remember it not holding it's shape too well when i saw it at the coach store. plus i'm not crazy about the 700 dollar price tag. i think that is too much to pay for a coach. save 300 more and buy a balenciaga!

this is exactly how i feel, even with the less expensive coach bags. why buy a coach when it can make paying for a much nicer bag easier?

Coach is nice, depending. They have a WIDE range of bags, hard to focus, and they usually is just so ever slightly different. And they keep on adding and adding and adding, and changing. The bag doesn't quite keep you interest for too long.

Do check out Isabella Fiore, MJ, the occasional Cole Haan (conservative but great totes for everyday banging around), and Miu Miu.

I've liked Coach less since they started doing all of the logo stuff. But they still have some nice bags, and I just got one of their wallets for a Chanukah gift. They used to have a lifetime guarantee, you could get repairs done free of charge if you sent the bag back to them. Don't know if they still do that.

I do like some of the new Cole Haan bags too, especially the Sierra line.

The bag that Luellalover posted a picture of, is NOT the Daphne. Therefore, the price is NOT $700. And, even if it were, I don't think its a matter of "saving for the Balenciaga" not everyone likes the look of a balenciaga and not everyone feels comfortable spending a thousand dollars on a bag.

I think that a lot of people that post here buy the high end brands and have no problem spending a thousand dollars on a bag, (this is afterall a forum for purse lovers, so you will find the "die hard" purse lovers on this forum) BUT it is also important to remember that there are people who read this forum who still love nice bags but could never bring themselves to spend a thousand + on a bag. It has nothing to do with affordability. As I am sure many people on this board buy expensive bags when they can't really "afford" it. Just like there are many people who CAN "afford" an expensive bag but can't bring themselves to spending a thousand + on a bag because they would rather put that money towards something else (i.e. saving for their first home), etc. I think its important to remember that these people exist on this forum as well.

So my advice to Luellalover is who cares what the brand name is? If you like it that's all that matters!

i'm not sure if the repairs are the same but their customer service is great! when i used my scribble tote for the first time i somehow got a little scratch/tear on the bottom and i took it back to the coach store on a thursday. they ordered a new one for me and said it would get here by monday but i actually got it the very next morning :amuse:

I think the bag that was posted was leather and satin. It's cute, but I would worry too much about the satin getting scratched. I bought the pleated hobo from Coach and it has a satin interior, and I am so incredibly paranoid about getting it ruined.

the bag posted is the nylon pocket satchel, $358 for the small and $458 for the large. i like coach, but this bag in nylon doesn't do it for me...

i think you misunderstand. no one was saying DON'T BUY COACH. if i understand correctly, fayden's opinion (as is mine) is that if you were going to spend $700 on coach (since, you admit, there are coach bags that cost that much, i believe the original poster only showed that one bag as an example), her advice would be to save the money and instead spend it on something rarer or more special or on a designer that's a little edgier. seeing that coach has been raising their prices recently, i don't think that advice is at all unfounded. in fact, i think it's very much based in reality.

also, i don't think the majority of people on this board prefer things or brands solely based on how expensive they are. on of the hottest bags of the past few months around here has been the IF Audra, and at $385, i think it hardly qualifies as a bank-breaker for the majority of people in the luxury goods market. that being said, i have NEVER seen any of these girls be rude, unkind, or unhelpful to anyone that has come on here with questions about any kind of bag, whether it cost $30, $300, or $3000.

i also don't think any of us have been disrespectful or rude in this post. she asked us our opinions of coach. we gave them. everyone has to decide for themselves what they're willing to spend their money on, and we've decided. i really don't see what the problem is :-/

I think you are the one who misunderstood. I never said anyone was being rude, unkind, or unhelpful. Nor did I state there was any problem with anything anyone said. I was just pointing out that 1)that was not a $700 bag AND 2) irregardless of ANY price, the important thing is that SHE likes it. I got the feeling that she was feeling a bit intimidated because she stated that she felt most people on this board preferred the more expensive brands. I was merely trying to point out that that didn't matter. My comment was intended to make her feel better. Not to make anyone get defensive.

Handbags are about style and design and fashion - not about money. - we all have our favorites and ones we don't particularly care for and we all have our budgets. - I think we can express our ideas here, knowing the subject matter is of interest to all. Do I have it right?

I love Coach. Not everyone can afford a top notch designer bag. Coach falls into that category of pricey but affordable. I like the bag in the pic too. I have a Coach that Ive had for a few years now and it is still holding up as if it were new.

I think it's popular because people these days want designer "stuff" and Coach definitely is cheaper than other designers. I think it is too simple.

i was just wondering...but what do you mean by simple?

sometimes simple isn't bad...imo, speedies are simple but people seem to love them. i dunno, i don't feel like many of coach's designs are simple but that's just my point of view

when i think about Coach and their products, nothing seems to stand out. It just seems a little boring. However, when I think about LV, there are a variety of designs to their bags.
