Again, my point is... Why have a release date? You can have limited edition items and do the very same thing with your actual reported release date.

This approach has simply just turned me off to the entire baseman collection and anything "limited edition" that coach may develop. Although mac (cosmetics) allows for pre-orders on new collections, the entire collection never sells out before the release date. Perhaps the items sell out quickly once they go live but there are always items available on launch day.

Perhaps it is just me being nothing more than a negative nancy, nevertheless, this is my perspective. To each his own, i say.

I was disappointed with the Snoopy launch because some of the items I wanted were sold out, and I agree that this can reflect negatively on the brand. I think Coach recognized that there was a problem and thus are doing a second batch of some of the items for orders that were cancelled. Obviously this doesn’t appease everyone, but it’s a start.

Baseman hasn’t officially launched yet, so we don’t know if a bunch of the items are going to sell out ahead of time like Snoopy did. We don’t know if Coach learned from their mistake (i.e., setting some items aside so that they can’t totally sell out from preorders), so I think it’s too early to assume that Coach is going to mishandle this one too.

That being said, with Baseman, I didn’t want to risk missing out (and I didn’t know the launch date), so I asked my SA and when I did, I was able to order. I have also been able to get non-USA exclusives in the past because I have been proactive and called to inquire. If someone is really interested in something, nothing is stopping them from calling Jax ahead of time, asking a SA, etc. Limited stuff does sell out (though I agree that it would be better if it wasn’t sold out before the official launch day). It’s a big change from the Coach we’re used to with everything ultimately showing up at the outlets.

I agree, if people are getting different answers when they call Jax, that's not fair. I've called before (not for an LE item), been told I couldn't order, called back and spoke to someone different and been able to order. I think that's a Coach issue/training issue not necessarily exclusive to LE items. Same with SAs not having a clue.

With Snoopy, I waited until the day of the launch so I could order online but everything was already sold out. The only people who are getting reorders are those whose orders got cancelled, not everyone else who didn't even get to put anything in their shopping cart. Being on the west coast, I only would have had a shot if I had stayed up all night.

I am not interested in these products, but just wanted to agree with how the sales tactics are annoying. I agree with the above that it wasn't about not being proactive, but about Coach not handling it well. I tried to order a Peanuts item from JAX and was told I couldn't after many people already had been able to. They said they would be available at the release date, and well, we all know how that went. Very little was left to be had.
