IMG_1167.JPG IMG_0606.JPG IMG_1172.JPG And I would like y'alls opinion on this Madison, please. I can't figure out if she was grey at one time, or putty, and the color has worn off in spots. What would y'all do? This is the only bag I have that I'm thinking re-dye is the only option.

Sadly my "new" super old courier baby has revealed spots.. sort of peppered? After a bath. In some spots it is worse than others. I don't think the bath caused the spots in any way. I think the bag was so dry that you couldn't see them so much. I did notice some of the deeper ones prior to the bath. What one earth caused this? Some are sort of pits, mostly it is more of a speckled pepper sprinkle. Let me show you. Since I took this photo I put some obenaufs on it and hopefully once it's sunk in it looks overall better. I have considered putting lemon juice on the spots but i'm really scared to do anything to ruin it.

I have one of these that was purple originally. I gave it a bath, but it just made the brown from the original color of the hide show through. I think that is what has happened to your bag. I think the original color has faded, and the color of the hide is showing through. I don't think there is anything you can do to fix the color other than dye it.

Back in January I bought this sad Ergo tote (10744) for $15 + free shipping from ebay. I got it on a whim thinking I could replace the missing turnlock backplate myself from an ebay seller. Of course, in the meantime I discovered that the ebay seller doesn't have access to that turnlock set. I called coach and found out it's only $35 for that repair! That included the shipping there and back to me.

So I gave it a bath myself - the interior and exterior were pretty dirty but I decided to throw it in the washing machine and it cleaned up great! I took it to my Coach store just about 3 weeks ago and they sent it in for me. To my surprise, I got it back today! I had left my hangtag there to be personalized and the bag beat the hangtag home!

It's not perfect - there is a nail polish stain on the legacy lining :-( I dabbed it with a q-tip dipped in nail polish remover which lightened it significantly. Any other ideas for getting it out?

I'm so happy I took a chance on this bag!
I have one of these. Can I ask what detergent you used and what cycle, cold or warm? I'm thinking about washing mine in the machine but afraid it would it eat up. Lol

@coach943 Yes, I bathed and conditioned it and it made it more noticeable. It's a NYC bag, so I want to respect it, and wonder if the "dye" is really some kind of paint that will not take to dye. Did you end up doing anything with your purple satchel and were you happy with it?

I'm not sure what you mean by you "wonder if the 'dye' is really some kind of paint that will not take to dye." I don't think your bag has been painted. The dye Coach used originally didn't go all the way through the hide; it was just on top of the leather. The original hide of the leather is now showing through the dye that Coach used. Dying a bag is a pain, but it would probably work on your bag if you wanted to try to make it better.

I didn't end up doing anything to my bag. It looks terrible. I'll probably donate it. I don't like the style well enough to try to dye it. Dying a bag is messy and too much work for me to do with a bag that I don't like very well.

Oh I'd liked so much to have a Musette of my own!!!
I really wish there was a way I could see some of my wish list bags all together on display to get a feel for the size and dimensions. To see how they suit the practical streak in me lol. I was really lusting for a Plaza bag and got one in black in good condition , just a little faded for about $45. But then it became all about the next bag! I am buying now for personal use or gifting. But I like buying them at a price I could recoup if I just decide it didn't work and sold it.
