Is the green one just dirty? Or is the dye starting to rub away?

Honestly I am not sure, the handles are really dark as well. I know I won't be able to restore to look as new, but I was hoping to clean it a bit at least. The color is beautiful and the leather very soft and nice to the touch.

Those are very special bags! I've never seen either IRL so I'm not much help. I know Ledobe has washed many Legacy bags but I don't think any of them were pearlized. I don't believe the second one was originally marbleized. Do a forum search to see if there are any reveals of what it looked like when it was new.

I think I will wash it and hope for the best... I am not going to use it like that anyway. Regarding the Ginger I had searched this site as well before asking, I found a thread about the reveal of a camel Ginger, a lot of comments but the links to the pictures no longer work. Then I found more in random posts but the bags were black. On Ebay there is one for sale also mentioning distressed leather, it has uneven color as well, but not so much. I still like it the way it is, I was just wondering. To reshape it I am going to experiment with a new idea, I will let you all know if it works

Thanks ladies!

Hi ladies! I have a bit of an affinity for the Ashley style. Don't ask... :p But I just recently snagged this one and I was so excited about it! I can handle dirty outside, maybe even worn corners, and dirty fabric inside, but the seller didn't say that there are tons, and tons, of scratches, down to the darker material. Now I am researching a way to make them less noticeable. I was going to resell or gift it, but I may just keep it.

I cleaned it real good with saddle soap and did a good moisturizing with leather honey. I'm new to this and leather honey had great reviews. I'm going to look into the Apple and Caddillac. It cleaned up perfectly except the scratches and bottom corners.

I saw meltonian in "delicate" which I guess is clear, and another tinted one in "bone" I think. I know there are tinted polishes out there. There's also the scratch doctor stuff that has many shades and I may be able to make work. The thing that sucks is this has a sort of pearl finish.

I don't know if I can get the scratches... I did see where vinager can make the leather swell so that it kind of, fills itself back in or something... but I don't know if this is the right type of leather for that because it's finished. My luck I'd just end up with a stain :p

Any suggestions welcome. This is my very first attempt at cleaning up a dirty purse, and I know I should have gotten a dark brown or black one! I had to pick something difficult. But I didn't know it was scratched!! If it would have just been dirty, I'd be gold right now. My actual best idea at this point I think, is getting a good light ivory color to fill in the scratches with a tiny tiny brush. Then goin over it all with the meltonian in delicate. Let me know what you think. Thanks

I've never used Meltonian. I have had good results with Wood n Stuff leather refinisher. You'll just need a sample sized bottle. I used it once on a bag that had sort of a glitter finish and it still looked glittery afterwards. You could also look into craft paint that comes in pearlized finishes, but you can't put those on very thick because they change the texture of the leather.

Is this bag too far gone to rehab considering the fading of the color? I found a photo of what it should look like and it's really pretty. I haven't purchased it yet, but I was considering it.

I am not one of the experts rehabbers so wait for their opinion, but I think that once you give it a bath and recondition, perhaps the color "wakes up", or there is a product to help it a bit (IDK), if the price is right go for it!

I came to recommend a product and share my excitement, yes I confess I almost jumped up and down today, LOL
I had this Poppy Whipstitch tote for awhile in my pile of rehabs because I know how tricky vachetta is, the main problem was denim transfer that I also know how hard is to remove in general, but I had used a product in the past that was suggested here (thank you to whoever did), on another bag of regular leather, much newer and only a spot I discovered almost right away.
I decided to use in the vachetta and WOW!!! It came out with no effort at all, no rubbing, no going over... the miracle product is BYE BYE DYE by Lovin my bags.

The back of the bag before and after. Before the front pocket and done half way. The cloth that they send to use with the with the product showing some blue and also a lot of dirt.

I tried to rehab a satchel that color, and it came out terribly. The bath and conditioning didn't help the purple color. The underlying brownish color of the hide itself just started showing more after I worked on it. Now the bag is a funny brownish purple color. It is my worst rehab. I think you'd have a terrible time with the bottom corners especially of the bag and trying to recolor them.

This color is one of the hardest to rehab. Like coach943 said, on these lighter colors, the underlying brown color of the leather starts to show through. Plus I can see ink marks on it that are permanent. Also, be very careful to get anything you are considering authenticated since there are many fakes in unusual colors.
