Thank you - I will try that! Forgot to mention I also tried Leather therapy and Honey to camouflage, which helped only a little. I will redunk the Legacy zip since it needs reshaping anyway, and see if I can improve the dark areas.

BTW, here's a shaping tip: Be careful how long you dry medium/large unlined bags upside down. It seems like it can stretch the leather too much, causing sagging toward the bag's bottom, especially on the side with the extra weight of a pocket flap.

ETA: Noticed you changed your avatar (cute!) and got a chuckle from your Lebowski pun

Thanks! I originally got interested in identifying and restoring Dooney & Bourke leather bags from the late 1970-early 1990s era when I inherited a couple of Dooneys that turned out to be fake. Soon after that, I discovered this thread, and got into Coach bags from the same period. I love both brands for different reasons.

Thanks also for the tip about hanging upside down causing stretching.

I am hoping you Rehab Experts can give me some advice, please. I bought this little Coach makeup pouch for my daughter many years ago, and she was about to get rid of it. Luckily, I saved it. The only issue is that it is very dirty. But since it is not entirely signature fabric, I don't know how to clean it. It has different types of fabrics patched together, a few signature, and other cotton-like fabrics. I'm not sure what series it's from, or what it's called, sorry. I attached photos. Since the top zipper area and Coach emblem are leather, I was hesitant to wash it... Please let me know if there's a way to get it clean, if anyone knows. I truly appreciate it!

Edit: A few patches are sateen, a few are signature fabric, and the blue/white striped section on front-bottom area feels plastic-like (or maybe just a firmer sateen)... :-/

I would probably wash it. I've washed similar Coach fabrics. My only worry would be if the dark leather would bleed onto the fabric. You could wipe down the leather with a wet cloth to see if any of the color comes off. Otherwise you can spot clean with soap and water or a mild spray cleaner, really anything that is fabric safe. The leather won't be damaged if it gets a little wet. The only worry is it bleeding. If you do get the leather wet and it doesn't bleed, you won't get water spots as long as the leather is evenly wet.

Thank you, whateve! I will test the leather with a wet cloth, like you suggested. By 'washing it' do you mean by-hand or in the washing machine? Or dunking it in a sink filled with water? I'm sorry, I've never done this before. Should I use laundry detergent, dish soap, or something else? I've only ever spot-cleaned, or used Coach's signature fabric cleanser in the past. Thanks again!

You can do washing machine or sink, whichever you want. I usually wash in the sink with dishwashing liquid, using other cleaners as necessary if the stains aren't coming out. In the sink, I can concentrate on each stain and see my progress. Some people also use the machine, spraying generously with pre-wash treatments before putting in the washer. I wouldn't put in the dryer and would use a gentle cycle. Since it is a small item, I don't see any reason not to do it by hand. I don't usually fill the sink with water for this type of item. I just spray it with water, apply soap and gently scrub, then rinse. You can turn it inside out to get the lining or pull the lining out to clean. After rinsing thoroughly, wrap in the towel to absorb the excess water, then lay out to dry.

I am truly grateful for your advice! I'll post 'after' photos... :-)

I had visions of grander with this vintage girl. I a bit dissapointed in the condition of this bag. I think I over payed. These are NOT water stains. So far I have soaked and washed with a soap and vinegar mix. Paying close attention to the staining. The wash only improved the bag slightly. Not sure the few conditionings I had planned will improve this bag. I guess I will need to get a color match at Michaels and hope for the best.....I will post again in a few days.

ETA: husband thought maybe I could paint flowers on the bag, like I did with this pen-ed up red rambler. http://forum.purseblog.com/coach/artsy-reveal-red-coach-rambler-703118-2.html
(Maybe a vintage 70's brown flower motif)...dun-no I'm torn.

That is disappointing. The rest of the bag looks pristine.

Recently I got a red Madison satchel with similar stains. The seller called them water spots. They definitely weren't water. Whatever it was had slightly changed the texture and was kind of purple. I didn't want to mess with it so I returned it. I know I would have had to paint it. It was heartbreaking to return it since it was so pretty otherwise.

I have a similar challenge with a bag that has a couple of lighter spots on the flap where someone tried to remove ink marks. The bag is gorgeous otherwise. I've been looking at the Coach Spring 2016 line with the appliqued Tea Roses. Might be an interesting project....? But not sure my abilities are up to the challenge.

Your Courier doesn't look too bad to me. Hope you're able to come up with a pleasing solution!

Wow, I hadn't seen your Rambler so now I'm really looking forward to what you come up with for the Courier. That is fab! I agree that painted designs can look cheesy but yours doesn't. Even if you decide to just match the Courier color, I bet it'll look great.

I thought about those appliqued tea roses too! If only I could find the flowers pre-made and all I had to do was attach them.

If you've tried everything above and the white fabric areas are still not white enough, I've had good luck with a Magic Eraser dampened with water. I'd avoid the colored fabric areas, as it can strip color. I've never tried it on sateen.

The appliques are for sure on trend. I was pondering that idea as well.
