Has anyone "dunked" a wallet??? otherwise what should i clean it with??
I've dunked a few Coach wallets successfully. The only wallet I have dunked that turned out pretty bad because it had a cardboard component was a different brand. I would likely dunk that one and scrub the dirt out of it with a toothbrush and some very mild soap. I do think you can probably get rid of the scratches outside with just leather cleaner, but I doubt it'll get the grot off the card pockets on the inside of the wallet.

I've washed two wallets - a Coach and a Dooney. They both came out very well. I didn't let either one soak very long. In fact, I gave one as a gift to a friend who loves Dooney, but can't afford it. I used Ivory dish soap, and then conditioned first with Lexol and then with Blackrocks.

I washed and conditioned a vintage hunter green Coach fold wallet. It came out fine but I treated it very gently. Then my daughter commandeered it, pronouncing i the perfect hipster "baby wallet." here is a pic:

Oh you have great timing - I just scored a black one very similar to yours at the thrift store yesterday so good to know how nice it can turn out! I've been underwhelmed with my previous wallet rehabs.

I second your 'treat it very gently' advice for wallets. I dunked a Dooney Italian leather zip around and the thin leather of the card slots stretched out unattractively. The edging also became very fragile when wet and I lost a bit of that, too. I only soaked it long enough to saturate. Luckily it was only a few bucks and almost a lost cause at the start.

I've conditioned a couple of Coach ones but it hasn't improved them as much as it does for bags, as others mentioned.

Hello ladies, long time no post always in a hurry, but today I had to share this with all of you that so kindly have posted your ideas, products and techniques to help each other. :smile1:
I just came up with this, if someone did before me sorry I missed it.

We all have used a bit of the acrylic paint and conditioner to improve the look of the rubbed or slightly worn corners, it really helps a lot but when the rest of the purse is pebbled or textured leather, the result is less "natural" looking.

This is what I did, after applying the mixture of paint/conditioner and let it dry for a bit, I used a toothpick to draw lines on that part, to match more or less the rest of the corner, (the pink tone is not quite right, but before they were like grayish), this is just to show the difference.

Great idea! Thanks for posting. I never realized that the reason it didn't look right was because it was too smooth.

That looks great. I've been thinking about trying a little paint on pebbled leather, and your project is very inspiring!

I hope it works for you as well. I also had on another pebbled purse, some stain I couldn't get off, and after trying several cleaners I made it worse, I used the paint/conditioner mixture on it and then gave it the texture look with the toothpick, it came out great! :smile1:
