Maybe at some point I can get Coach to maybe .do something with the binding
Unless things have changed, Coach won't repair it. It is too old. You can repair it yourself or take it to a leatherworker. That's not so bad. I'd patch that up myself.

ETA: I'm amazed you found 3 of these! Did the sellers know what they had? Were the prices high?

I found 4 actually. 2 black the orangy one and the brown one. Before I mention what I paid I'm curious what you think they are worth as I havent a clue, I just like them! As I said I found a black one that they were going to see to me but I guess they changed their mind. I found another black one on another site which I email them twice but I'm assuming they wanted to keep it as they never replied, The Orange one came from an estate sale and the brown one was purchased online.

Lmao, honestly there's no way I would even attempt to try to repair that myself. I've never rehabbed a bag and you guys are experts.

I don't know what they are worth since I've never seen one sold. For a collector, they could be worth several hundred dollars. On the other hand, I don't think they are as collectible as some other styles and they aren't that much different from a station bag, other than in size and lack of handle. If I was going to sell one, I'd try to get at least $150 for it.

The brown one I paid $75 for and I have Debi Nemetz looking at it to see if she can restore it. The newer one literally has no wear to the piping and it looks almost new. The inside also looks brand new. It will be interesting to see what she looks like after a bath. That one I paid $200 for. Whether I paid too much for them, I love both as the Station bag, I love the look of but its too small. These Slim Pouches are like having Station bags buy larger than Willis sized which was what I was looking for.

On newer bags where the edge coating has breaks, I prefer using fabric puff paint or leather cement to fill in the edges, then paint if necessary.

This is my finished patented leather handle that had cracks. I don't have the before picture, but it was nothing special - several small ones, about 1-2 millimeters each. I did that in several steps - using a little puff paint, setting aside, sanding the top layer off when the paint was dry. The result is not ideal, but at least the cracks are gone. And with cracks on patented leather the problem is the edges are always bulging, so it's impossible to make the surface totally flat.

As much as I try avoiding patented leather, sometimes I have to deal with it. Here's my question: is it possible at all to prevent cracking? You can't use moisturizer on it - is there something that could be done at this point?

It looks good. I wonder if you could coat patent leather straps with acrylic varnish to help prevent cracking.

That bag is beautiful. I love it. While you never know how a bag will turn out and there is always a risk, I would dunk it. I think it will do fine. Please post your after pictures!

Okay, I'm getting ready to prep the bag for a bath but am starting to get a bit nervous. It so old I am so afraid of screwing up and ruining it. :wtf::wtf: it will be okay won't it or will I destroy this beautiful bag?
