Hi! Someone please help me find the post/info on fixing discoloration in spots? I got a small love red Phoebe that has small patches that are way lighter in color (almost white), at the bottom ends of the shoulder straps. The placements of the discoloration lead me to believe it's from the masking tape that used to be there. I believe someone mentioned using leather conditioner mixed with Sharpie ink, or leather dye? TIA!

I read another tpf member using acrylic paint to cover spot discolouration on her bag. If you can find the exact or similar colour, it could be an option. Good luck!

I’m new at this, but here are my two cents.

I've had success using airbrush paint mixed with Leather Therapy to cover white spots on black Sonoma pebbled leather bags.
I feathered it on using my finger (a brush didn’t seem to work as well.)
When dry, finish with Blackrock.

Airbrush paint is great because it is water resistant when dry, and comes in great colors.
We have these two brands at home, but am sure there are other brands out there.
I used the Createx. Most art stores would carry airbrush paint.

Below is link so you can get an idea of color range.

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. I'll def look into these!

Hi! I am currently rehabbing a Legacy West Backpack. It seems that something hot was spilt on it because the stained portion of leather appears burnt.

I have washed, concentrating on the stain. It didn't budge. I have also scrapped at it & dabbed with acetone to no avail. I've already conditioned twice & applied Blackrock.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Even if I cannot improve the bag any further, I intend to carry it when I go out to take photos.

Rehab side note: the flap seems to contain cardboard as it required being pressed flat under books during the drying period & is still somewhat wavy. :( Happily, the bottom fared well in the process.

I've had something like this happen. The only solution is to try to cover it up with color. You might have to fill it in with leather cement to get it smooth before you color it.

This might already have occurred to you, but just adding 2 more cents on buying airbrush paint:

You'll probably have to mix two or three colors to get a match for your bag.
Personally, I find that picking the right colors can be tricky.

Many art stores (around here anyway) are staffed with artists., so consider bringing your bag with you when you look for paint. There's a good chance someone there can give good advise on what colors you'll need to match your bag.

Thanks, whateve! I've used paint/conditioner to cover color loss but not yet on darker areas. I don't have leather cement yet so I'll see how the paint covers & post an update. Hope your new year is off to a great start!

Do any of you rehabbers know where I can find Fiebings edge kote (or something similar) in tan? I have brown and black, and that's all I've been able to find online besides all the other leather dyes. Thanks!

Ok, I'm a dolt, just found some tan on etsy, although it is a bit darker than I was hoping for. Would adding a tiny bit of white leather dye mess up the consistency/finish too much?

Here is the before and after for my Legacy West Hobo. For fun, I added a tassel I made and an owl medallion I bought at Goodwill. Silly, I know, but I like it.
