Has anyone dunked a Molly? I just bought one from the bay and I have a feeling it's going to need a thorough cleaning. Think I'll be save to put it in the sink?
I haven't but I have a few duffles from the same line that need some TLC. The dye on these doesn't go all the way through so they are very susceptible to losing color, especially at the edges. I think a bath might make this happen prematurely. I would pull out the lining and wash it thoroughly and then condition the leather. Mine need some color restoration. I've been procrastinating about working on them. When I do, I'll post how I end up doing it.

Oh, lovely...(in regards to the color not going all the way through). Of course the one I bought would have to be parchment, lol. I guess I'll see how bad off it is when it gets here. Gotta love those eBay sellers who refuse to photograph all the angles and give you a clear picture of what you're getting. [emoji37] Thanks, whateve! If you get yours done in the next couple of days, let me know how it goes.

A friend of mine has some ink on a vintage coach in light tan. She saw a video on youtube that you could remove ink on a doll with 10 percent acne benzoyl peroxide cream, like panoxyl. Has anyone tried this on leather? I know if ink is really old alcohol doesnt work, nothing really works than to just lighten it a bit. Just wondering if you have heard of this or tried it?

How do you post pictures? Every time I try, from my computer or phone it won't let me. I have a vintage lavender Coach bag that I was to rehab but I don't know how to do it or what kind it is. I was hoping if I posted pictures someone might have advice.

Yes, I've tried it. It was posted on here a few months ago. I think it might work better on light leather. I tried it on a red bag and it bleached the area but the ink was still there.

ETA: basically I think it is a bleach. You could probably also use hydrogen peroxide. The advantage of the acne cream is that you can put it in a skinny line, just covering the ink stain. I think the person on here who recommended it said they put it on and then put the item in the sun for awhile.

there is a size limit to pictures so if they are too big they won't upload. I use the paperclip icon to upload them from my computer but usually I have to resize them before I upload them. You could also put your pictures on a photo sharing site like Photobucket and then enter the URL. I believe they automatically get resized if you upload them to another site first.

I got my acetone at Target. It's the up and up brand and has a blue lid. It says nail polish remover acetone maximum strength.
Hi All

Just catching up a bit, and felt I should mention this in case no one else has -

RE Acetone : for those who may not know it is very carcinogenic, so handle with care. Wash your hands right away after use! (In the US, you'll only find warning labels on acetone that's NOT for cosmetic use; same stuff but the FDA isn't required to have warning labels on cosmetics.)

I'm a graphic designer and used it for many years - it is useful but scary stuff.

Hello everyone. Haven't been around much as I've been really busy with another passion of mine, vintage china! The exchange rate and shipping costs have put a stop to my Coach collecting, however I still have a pile that I'm working through and I do get 'orders' from time-to-time. Just finished this big red beauty for a friend of mine. She was hoping a red Shoulder Sac would come up within her budget, but was really happy with this Large Slim Duffle. Easy rehab: bath, Leather Therapy, Obenauf's, Black Rock and lots of buffing.
Beautiful job on both & inspiring, Two.time!!! thanks for sharing!

So my parchment Legacy Molly arrived today and isn't in as bad shape as I imagined. It doesn't need a full bath but does have smudges all over the bottom piece. How should I attack this?

Separate issue but I don't want it to end up like this previous cream bag I jacked up. Tried to remove the ink marks and took the color off. Sigh.

Are you sure the top color hasn't been removed in this case? I'd attempt to clean it gently with a spray cleaner and gentle wiping. Since it is a light color, you might be able to hydrogen peroxide, but I would try it in a tiny, hidden part and wait to make sure it doesn't bleach it out too much. If none of that works, I would use leather refinisher to cover it.

In the purse in the photo, the color is removed. I was experimenting with removing ink stains on a $6 Coach bag I found at the thrift store. As you can see, I lost, lol. I put Amodex on the ink and gently scrubbed with a toothbrush but the stains weren't lifting. So I poured fingernail polish remover on them and that lifted them really well. Where I ran into trouble is when I put the toothbrush on them after the acetone. If I had just put the bag in the water straightaway, I think I would've gotten away with it.

Where can I get leather refinisher? I was going to try painting it just to see how to do it.

I haven't touched the Molly with anything yet. Maybe try Awesome and a soft cloth? I don't think the smudges will be too hard to remove-just didn't want to mess it up since I'm already in love with it! [emoji4]

Awesome would probably be perfect. I use cleaners like that all the time on my purses.

Leather Refinisher is here: http://www.wood-n-stuff.com/leatheraid.html
You'd probably just need a one ounce bottle, but you might have to buy two colors to mix to get the right color.

ETA: don't feel bad! I tried acetone on a tiny smudge on the lining of an almost perfect Madison, then the bottle spilled inside and even though I rinsed it pretty quickly, it ate away part of the lining!
