Thirded-and I bet it will look good with a wash and some blackrocks, those marks might not be all that bad after evening out with a good conditioning.

OK... so you ladies think is a "special" bag? I have no clue what it is, just looks super funky to me. I did some research and I found someone in this area that works with leather and may be could dye it, I thought about waiting to see if I got it for the starting bid of 9.99, then I came here and read that this bag is rare, so with stains or not, I went back and got it for the BIN of $20.00.

I hope I do not need to dye it, because part of what I like in this bag is the color. Thank you ladies, you really are awesome helping the newbies like me. :smile1:

Cool! Please take pictures when you receive it so we can check it out. Sometimes with older bags it's best not to mess with them too much as it devalues them. I think a cool bag like that is even a little better with a bit of "history".

$20! It must have been poorly listed. Congratulations.

Wow, $20! What a deal! There are two versions of this bag. The original is a Bonnie Cashin and they generally sell for $200 to $500. These might have the striped lining. There was a remake in the late 80s. The remake has a zippered pocket on the other side, and is unlined with a creed. I have a two-tone remake. It is one of my treasures.

If you end up with the original Bonnie Cashin, then you should think twice about how much you want to alter a collector's item.

ETA: I just found it. It's the remake. It's still a very nice and rare bag. Congratulations!

Hey there Rehabbers! This past week was a very lucky one for me. Firstly, I received a bag in a lot that had mold (mould) like you would not believe! It looked like it was growing a beard! LOL! this was inside and out. Inside looked like somebody spritzed white paint in it (Black bag & lining) Well..this was clearly a case of nothing left to lose..right..so I made a paste (more of a gel really) of Murphy's Soap & Clorox Spray Cleaner. Liberally applied it and scrubbed the daylights out of it. Then pulled the lining out & repeated. Dunked in extra warm water, Rinsed really well under running water then a nice soak in extra strong vinegar solution. Hung it out to dry on a bright sunny, warm & windy Texas day. Next day not a speck of mold left and the leather & lining was unharmed! Yaaay! Just a little CPR and it looked good as new. Before & after photos below. Next very pleasant surprise..Jed at Coach bought one of my bags!! I have no idea why..Just a NYC Stewardess..So this is the second one for me. First one I thought might have been rare bacause I have never seen another like it.:D

Great job on the mould (mold) removal! I hope it didn't spread to other others in the lot. Its very insidious.

What a thrill to know your bags are in the Archive. Was there something special about the Stew such as the colour and condition? Please post a pic.

OK...Here is the 'Stew'..Nice, but nothing rare or special..at least to my eyes. But then, I'm surely no expert! I believe the color to be Saddle... or.. .possibly Tabac.

Wow! Good to know that your cleaning mix works on fuzzy mold :smile1: (I had fuzzy mold on a black Willis over the summer.) Black mold is a totally different battle. (I've been working on one for almost 2 months now, but I finally started working on it today according to Debi's instructions. It'll still take a few days to find out how it goes!)

I'd love for one of my bags to be in the archives! How thrilling to see that Jed bought one!! Congrats :smile1:

Hello all - I've just received via EBay a saddle colored tote with the kisslock on the side - I'd post a photo but I'm not sure I can do that yet. In any case, it could do with some cleaning. Is a bath safe for one this old? I'm scared!

THANKS!

With all the talk about dying bags, thought you all might want to check out the Bal that was dyed...

http://forum.purseblog.com/balenciaga/dye-project-in-progress-892624.html

Thank you for posting this, I have a better idea of what could be involved in the process, and now I hope that I do not have to do it, or last resort think about a professional job. I thought I could just dunk a bag in dye, like I have done with fabric.... wow! I guess I was mistaken.

I also want to thank everyone for the comments about my "find", more like my stumble on it as at first I didn't know what it was. It's not the original older version, but still kinda rare and I got it that cheap, because I guess the seller had no clue about Coach bags (not saying I do, LOL).
