The green was called bottle green; it was made in 2007.

You're brave washing her in the machine! I'm looking forward to seeing your pictures.

I had zero problems with my Ink Bleecker duffle in the washer, so I'm not surprised the green is ok-but yeah it's scary to see what you'll come out with!

I'm using the refinisher on a NYC skinny tote. It was my first rehab and I'm using the refinisher as a last resort.

I remember the skinny tote, but I don't remember everything you've done trying to save it. Are you going with a different color, or trying to match? To me lightweight, but pigment intense, so maybe it's getting "caught" in some texture issues that are making it look streaky maybe I use really really light coats and I don't always do a second coat unless I'm changing the color, which I've done twice, and that is really just to make sure that I catch the little spots I've missed.

So I'm rambling and not being any help, unfortunateley...

Just thought I'd post an update on my clay Gigi rehab since I've been carrying it lately. I used the Wood n Stuff leather refinisher on this, after testing the tarrago which looked ok but started rubbing off in places almost immediately.

This bag was so discolored and beat up I felt it was worth drastic measures. I don't know if this grey color is different than others I've used because it probably contains white, or if I just applied it in thicker coats than I usually do but its a little shinier than other colors. It is not, however as shiny as it looks in the picture. Anyway, after a year of occasional carrying I think it's held up well. It is essentially a color change because the bag was more of a yellowish greenish color when I started.

Oh and here is a link to the beginning of the Gigi saga. http://forum.purseblog.com/coach-clubhouse/coach-rehab-and-rescue-club-833400-46.html#post25897652

Wow! It looks like it did a year ago. That's worth knowing. I have a few bags, Coach and non-Coach, that have been sitting in the 'way too hard basket' for a long time. Now to choose colours.:thinkin:

The interior looks pretty clean. I am a little worried that the crystals may come off if I wash it. What kind of wipes would I use? Baby wipes or some leather cleaner wipes?
I read somewhere (Docride in the Hermes forum I think) that baby wipes are not good for leather - surprising as you'd think baby skin would be less resilient that cow hide! Anyway I'd probably go with whateve's suggestion of vinegar - cheap and cheerful.

ok!!

just washed her- ( hunter? green bleecker shoulder bag with brass fittings and tattersal liner). in the washer, on delicate, cold water, and woolite for colors. she came out very well! no bleed, no troubles so far. knock on wood. she is an 06, i think?

anyhow, she's stuffed. will slather her later today or tomorrow, slather her again later on, polish her brass, and sit back and admire her!

thank you again :tup:to whateve and two.time.bags! ps, whateve i pm'd you..

OMG. I'm a bit extreme when rehabbing too, but I don't think I'd have the courage to put mine in the washer - she's not really dirty anyway, but good to know they came out OK.

The lining of this poor bag looks worse than the photo: lots of mystery red blotches and many colors of ink spots. The stains are mostly on the bottom but do not want to go away. I have tried everything. I mean everything, except ethyl alchohol, turpentine, or fabric dye. The dye from the leather seems to have discolored the edges of the lining too. Anyone have any suggestions?

You might not be able to get it any cleaner. I have a bag with this lining and the Cs turned greenish where I cleaned it too vigorously. My bag had ink stains. Weirdly, I was able to get most of the ink off the lighter parts of the lining but the Cs remained stained. If you can pull the lining out, you can use alcohol on the ink.

I have a camel colored bag with ink and other stains. I don't really like the camel color. The zipper matches the camel but it is inset so not very visible. Would it be weird if I dyed a totally different color? If I did, should I dye the creed and the leather outlining the inside pocket?

Oh, I can absolutely pull that darn lining out! Will try alchohol next. Thanks for your help.
It is such an awesome style bag. The $15.00 I spent on this treasure has cost me about that much in extra cleaning supplies. But the rehab is fun, the rehab is fun, the rehab is fun....:cursing:

I know how you feel. I've been working on a Hamptons clip bag since I got it in May, with vachetta on the bottom and it was trashed by the previous owner (ink and stains everywhere.) I just keep putting it off to the side when I get frustrated with it and reward myself with an easier bag. I'm getting to the point where I know it's never going to be perfect, so I'm probably just going to keep it rather than resell it.

So hard to understand how careless people can be with these bags. Vachetta must be very tricky. Your bag will probably look great when you are done, except that your eye will probably keep going to where the stains were!

My best friend wants this bag for Christmas when I am done with it. I may just send it to her with some Blackrocks and sign the gift tag "good luck!"

I would be afraid of getting dye on the lining on the inside. Maybe your hands are steadier than mine? Which bag? I don't think the zipper is a big deal sincd it's a neutral.
