Oh I forgot to post that one yesterday! It’s actually a Saddlery - but I’m not sure what color to call her.

I hardly ever remember to take good before/after photos, but here goes...

I was originally thinking I’d try to even out her color even more, but I think I’m going to leave her as-is now. I like the light browns and grays blending together.
I pulled out my catalog, the 1988 Holiday catalog lists the color as flannel grey. And the saddlery was available in it!

Thank you very much. Will a makeup sponge work, mine didn't have a soft sponge ?
I'm going to try an old triangle style make up sponge. Mind didn't come with any sponges; I bought a lot of 2 with cracked lids off eBay. I had just been putting it on with my fingers, wearing a glove.
Needless to say, I'm not filled with confidence from my first rehab attempt! It's gone south since they dried after dunking but I'm hoping redunking will help this situation.
Hey hang in there. Anyone who does this for any amount of time has one go south. Many people really sail through a few and then boom, one really hits the dumper. As was noted, fortunately, for the most part, these bags are hardy and can stand being re-dunked. If you land a really sweet bag, you may want to get a few more rehabs under your belt before you go for that special one.

I just started applying it to my bag and then realised it was still very slightly damp! I tried to wipe it off with conditioner. Ahh, I'm so crazy and paranoid now worrying it'll keep the excess water in and rot the leather. Too many hiccups in the process so far haha, can't bear any more. Stuffed some silica gel packets into the slip pockets.
You can use a hair dryer to speed up the drying.

Hi everyone, my US family is looking into shipping me Leather CPR and BR. Do you guys know whether they're hazmat and if there could be any issues?

@Cate103 did you have CPR shipped to you or did you pick it up in the states?
They don’t contain alcohol. I looked at the MSDS for CPR awhile back. No red flags.

Are you sure you didn't throw away the sponges thinking they were packaging foam? Didn't someone almost did that here?? I can't remember who. Here's a pic of the sponge that came with the Renapur.

I almost did that! The packaging and sponges were literally in our recycling bins until I saw here that it came with sponges

I’ve applied Renapur before when the bag was damp but almost dry. I just let it soak in and buffed at that state, then left it to dry completely. It was fine.

Good morning, friends! Hope you guys are having a good start to the long weekend.
My beat up Prairie is done. I had to apply puffy paint on the burst piping and scraped off looking parts to even it out, then acrylic paint over. Turned out as nice as can be, I guess. The hole needed several applications of puffy since it settled after drying.

there was also red ink inside that bled out while it was still damp. It seeped through outside and stained the towel it was sitting on. I blotted it off several times with CPR inside out but couldn’t get all of it out. Oh well! At least it’s on the inside. Overall, I am satisfied with the result

That is lovely!!! Came out so beautiful!!!

Hello. I am attempting to acquaint myself with the process of rehabbing / rescuing vintage coach leather bags. How I got myself into vintage coach is a surprising moment that is a bit of a blur. Yet I am happy to be here, reading and hoping to apply the information learned. There is a carousel bag, 9942 that has developed a tear, and what I thought was unsewing may actually be another tear. It is at the same end on opposite sides from one another. I've read some people have suggested reinforcement leather, leather glue, E6000 when discussing tears. I would appreciate a look at the images and suggestions as the best way to tackle this. Thank You.
