This +1. And each bag makes you adapt your process based on what it goes into the water with and what it comes out with.
Yes! I just rehabbed my three City bags made in three different countries - 1995 BT from US, 1992 red from Costa Rica and 1998 black from Turkey. Man, what a difference in the way they felt after dunking, absorbed the CPR applications, dried, felt, etc. Each bag is so unique!

Late 60's to early 70's? That is a sexy bag. I hate waiting for rehab pics.

ETA: mid 70's? I don't know. I'll shut up now. The federal seal bags had a metal tag and those were made in 1972. The metal tag pre-dates the cartouche, so yours has to be early to mid 70's. Ignore me....I'm just thinking out loud. Somebody is gonna come school me any second. I hope. I have a cartouche Courier and now I can't remember how old it is! Again...ignore me.
No worries. :hugs:I have a rust bag LOL
Hey you’re not a tPF-er until you get schooled here (bonus points if it’s by Hy )

Congrats! Was watching that one too.

Well, I bought the Skinny Tote, gave her a bath, many coats of CPR and a coat of Blackrocks. She is just lovely. Well worn, but still a lot of life in her yet.

Three things I'm hoping you folks can help me with:

First, she seems to have been British Tan. I'm going to try to cement and puffy paint the edges shown. Does anyone recommend a particular brand or color/color-mix of paint to try?

Second, what about these balls? Is the brass coating just worn away or is there some remedy to bring them back to brassiness?

Third, based on the creed, when was she made? The glued in serial is long gone, just wondering if I can get a rough age for her.

Thanks for any advice!
She looks a million times better after rehab!

The plating is worn off the kisslock balls and there is no good way to repair that - not that I've found, anyway. I have used a product called Rub n Buff to replace lost plating on Coach jewelry (see the link below) and it worked well, but I don't think it would hold up very long on a kisslock mechanism that gets so much wear - but you could try it.

Thank you, I will try the Rub 'n Buff!

@hetha2001 did you ever try Rub 'n Buff? Did it help?

Well Ive just bought myself a challenge...something caught my eye and I could not resist. See Authenticate this Coach thread
So I will have to fix the strap breaks that are located under the shoulder guard and although I said I wouldnt dunk I might have to.
Do any of you think that putting a bit of painters tape over the metal tag will protect it?

I dunked 2 metal tag pre creed bags before, no issue with the paint. I only use room temperature water. Paint will become soft and peel if water is hot.

Hi just thought i'd contribute by showing the slight variance in colour when applying leather conditioners to light coloured bags:

(From left to right: one application of Apple leather conditioner; Blackrocks layered on top after first layer of Apple leather conditioner has dried)
There's more depth to the colour in pic 2. (Apologies it's overcast today so this is the best lighting I could get.)

Ah, no. I think washing and and CPR/BR-ing brought the balls and bag back to life enough for daily use. She's my 'big bag' for errands, etc. (my Waverly is my daily bag in summer, she's hanging behind the tote).
The only part I'd still like to fix is the frayed piping and big round stain on the bottom. I haven't really given her a once over since I rehabbed until I took these pics today and didn't notice just how bad it looked. I guess at this point I'd need to re-dunk, cement and paint those frayed areas but I don't think anything will work on that stain...
