It sort of worked, at least the wrinkle is less obvious IMO.

I also love those geodes. We've had them for many years and I frequently recruit them to assist with my rehabbing efforts - because they weigh about 10 lbs each.

Perhaps that bag got wet and was casually allowed to dry in a wrinkled state.

I have an old suede brush but I remembered that the Sales Associate at the Coach Outlet recently gave me a free Ralyn Suede Care Kit when I purchased a Wave Dreamer with suede inserts. I got it out and followed the directions and it really helped a lot! I rubbed the bar on the spots and soiled areas and then I went over all of the suede areas with the brush and it looked much better in my opinion.

I used Lexol on the smooth leather surfaces and Cape Cod Cloths on the hardware. I used Leather Glue on a toothpick to tuck the frayed thread back into the side of the turnlock tab and that also worked to make the lock tighter and not floppy.

I tried several chain straps before selecting the one I liked best. I had assumed that the Black Cooper Strap would be the best choice because it has a matte finish like the silver hardware, but it looked heavy and over-powering with the bag IMO.

A plain silver chain strap looked okay but a little boring, but I really liked the look of the Dark Gunmetal strap with the bag and I had a Dark Gunmetal Hangtag that I could pair with it.

See below for the After Pictures. The wrinkle isn't gone but I think it looks better and less noticeable. Also below is a picture of Drew Barrymore wearing the bag in Fall 2017 and a stock Coach photo of the Oat and Fern colors - so you can see what the original strap and hangtag were like.

I love the fringe!!! Amazing. Remember, this is why you go after bags that are so far gone:yes: . All it takes is one decent outcome, imo, to make one very curious! I am also very appreciative of the specifics. It was enlightening to find out how a recently constructed bag goes not, just through a dunk, but a wash.
I agree it is a fun hobby to see what it is like to use and carry a bag that would have not been practical or feasible to buy retail, even on sale. I rehabbed a teal suede Bleeker Haversack ($20 Goodwill) and Punch Resort tote ($10 flea market) that were both interesting experiences and did well.
And while I am quick to say how well constructed vintage bags are, I have to give a shout out also to these contemporary bags.

Thanks, as long as the bag is clean and I will feel comfortable carrying it then I figure the rehab was a success, and I am really looking forward to carrying this little beauty! I would love to see after pics of both your haversack and resort tote!

This little Suede Fringe Dinky fits into the expensive and frivolous category. It was released in Fall 2017 for $595 in Oat and Fern colors. My poor little bag is Oat and it has had a short but life. I got the bag for only $35 (including shipping) but it was very dirty, worn, and stained and missing parts.

It was missing the intertwined silver/leather chain strap and also the black/silver 1941 hangtag; and it had a big ugly wrinkle right across the front flap. Plus there was something wrong with the silver and black leather turnlock. There was a frayed thread coming out on one side and the tab was kind of loose and floppy; but the purchase price included 2 Dinky chain straps in Black Copper and Dark Gunmetal so that was a plus!

Normally I wouldn't even attempt to rehab a light-colored, damaged, suede bag but I was attracted to this fun, frivolous, bag; and I figured that if the rehab was a failure at least I would still have the 2 Dinky chain straps - because I am always looking for straps!

And at least this bag is made of genuine suede, if it had been made of the "Debil Nubuc" I wouldn't have even considered rehabbing it!

I did a lot of things to that poor little bag to clean it and try to eliminate that ugly wrinkle on the front flap, including bathing, laundering, ironing, weighting, and stretching! I will post some before and during rehab pics here and post the after photos in my next message.

Here is a link to the Resort Tote. I happened to find a post here or link that indicated this was Punch lol. I found her in a pile of bags at flea market. A little grimy with a few light water stains and just the beginning of wear in a few spots. I gave a standard dunk and just went easy on the CPR because the leather in thinner. Because it puddles, it really needs a purse organizer.
Which COACH bag are you carrying today?
If you search this thread with my user name and haversack, my posts will come up for the teal Bleeker. Admittedly I have needed a new computer for a few years. I just bought a new laptop a month ago and am just now in the process of organizing all my pics. Of bags, lol.
