I think seeing grayish-green oxidation on brass surface is more typical and that's what essentially verdigris so despised by us rehabbers is. I don't think in my case red rot is something irreversible - I'm going to polish it off with the help of my husband's magic drill press, plus, as I just read on one of the metalworkers' forums, Brasso should prevent it from returning. That's interesting! I've never seen that red stuff before and it's great that your husband knew what it was.
I have seen older, anchor-stamped brass hardware corroded where the clasps rubbed against the D-rings, like a little divot. The corrosion is dull metallic gray.

That's good to know, and nice that you have access to the polishing equipment!I think seeing grayish-green oxidation on brass surface is more typical and that's what essentially verdigris so despised by us rehabbers is. Wow! What a cutie, and it is so neat to see how you were able to clean up this light color. I love this silhouette! Great rehab! So @houseof999 sent a link for a sad little yellow regina. I had to jump all over it because I'm having a yellow moment right now, and desperately wanted a yellow regina. I'm super happy with this rehab and thankful for house999 and all you guys, for looking out for each other.befores and afters.

Hey, @ChaosBurger, I've been meaning to thank you one more time for sending me those two light colored paints as I found them essential in refreshing my ivory Kelly bag! It was already in a great condition, I just needed to touch-up the corners and fix the peeled edge coat at the base of the handle (which, I think, is a common problem for Madison bags). This minor work inspired me to finally start working on my beat-up Collegiate ivory bag I never had guts to rehab. Let me know if you have any upcoming projects for which you may need them so that I could send them back on time!Wow. Thanks for sharing all that info/photos! Very cool you've got a plan to fix it!

No I did my regina the right way. Lol. I only used the degreaser as a hail Mary, because I used obenaufs oil on my city and it soaked up into all the damaged areas and made them really dark, especially around the piping. My regina I just did cpr and renapur. It looks great! Curious, did you use leather degreaser for the yellow Regina, too?
(I saw you used leather degreaser for a City Bag, and your results look amazing!)
