Thank you! Do you buff the leather with a brush after applying CPR?
No, only after applying Blackrock. I am usually applying the CPR while the leather is still damp. My last bag up thread I applied 3 coats of CPR and then 1 coat of Blackrock after the bag was dry. Maybe some people do if they are not doing a full rehab? Someone else may have other thoughts.

So, I got this lunch bag that I thought was either fake or painted because of the feel of the leather. It is so stiff compared to my other bags. Whateve verified it is real in the authenticate thread. So I really think it has been painted or someone said might be treated with some harsh cleaner. Seeing the edge of the strap though makes me believe more that it has been painted. It is so white and unlike the natural suede part that is exposed for uncoated edges. I mean it’s pretty, but I want it to feel good too. Does anybody have any suggestions to make it softer?

I'd probably try using some conditioner on it first (Leather CPR is my conditioner of choice). Buff gently with a soft cloth when dry. If the conditioner is not absorbed, that might mean a refinishing or recoloring product was used.

As the bag is carried, it should soften up over time.

Another thing that helps to soften leather is to brush vigorously the suede parts. I use a sanding block.

Thank you. I will give those a try. I did apply CPR on it but it doesn’t seem to penetrate as much. I guess I got spoiled with the feel of my other bags.

Yes, I am so tactile with these bags. I have a few smooshy ones. They are my expectation. I am now less inclined to buy online, as I am waiting to see what will show up at a local flea market. So I can handle them. I picked up a mini knapsack, kinda stained, but super soft.
