I've never had a Willis, so I can't speak to the weight comparison, but I've almost finished rehabbing my first Manor bag which came to me with a weird shape and tilted handle. It's been a really easy rehab so far, the trickiest part for me was figuring out how to position it while wet so that the sides didn't dry weird, but that still wasn't very difficult. Here are a few pictures showing what it looked like before, and what it looks like now after being dunked, shaped, dried, and having a few coats of conditioner applied. I haven't carried it yet, but I like it enough already that when I saw a great deal on a red one last week, I snapped it up lol.

Maybe I need a manor bag. I also love the size of Willis but the less weighty and clunky feel of the Court. Your Manor bag is gorgeous!

Opinions about the Manor bag?

I recently got a Willis. It’s a beautiful bag, but…admittedly kind of heavy. Think that’s partially because it swings around when I walk, and it kind of tugs. (I'm short, so that might be making it worse.) Definitely feel it after a while, and I don’t have back or shoulder issues or anything. I’d like another fairly-high-capacity bag.
But I've heard the Manor is heavy, too. Just as heavy as the Willis?

When I see Manor bags online, some look great, and have a nice shape.
Others have a somewhat weird shape, especially at the sides of the bag, or a tilted handle.
Is it just a matter of shaping the bag correctly after a dunk?

I have both bags, and unless I am standing totally still wearing the Willis, I feel like a dork when she's cross-body.

Step. Thunk. Step. Thunk.

Soooo...she will probably be sold one day, though I enjoy the scale and functionality of the bag. The manor is a bit easier to wear cross- body but does have a wider profile than is ideal and the handles on mine are always a bit wonky.

I'm thinking about wrapping a twilly around the handle of the Manor, and maybe shaping some wire underneath to hold the handle shape. If you're into scarves on your bags maybe that would be something to try?

Both bags are beautiful, so you just have to trial and error until you find what works for you

I also hate the way the Willis handle flops back when the bag is standing.

Thanks! It still needs a couple of coats of Blackrock and to have the hardware polished, but I’m really happy with it so far! I can’t wait to get started on the red one but I’m trying to finish up my current projects first.

I saw this black court bag 9870 at the Thrift Shop the other day for only $7.50 but I left it behind because of the missing top strap, but I kept thinking about it so I went back and bought it today.

The bag is in very good condition and will rehab well, but I don't know if it is worth the bother with such a major, obvious condition issue.

I decided that for $7.50, if I can't fix it then I can use it for parts because the strap, turnlock, D-rings, and hangtag are all in good shape. It's a shame though, who would defile such a pretty, classic bag?!

All I can think off to replace the missing top handle is a scarf or a chain - does anyone have other ideas?

I can't edit my previous post, but I wanted to add that I'm not hating on the Willis - it just hits awkwardly on MY body when I walk.

As it's black, and color matching should be less of an issue, perhaps a cobbler could fashion a simple handle? But I think a scarf might look interesting and pretty! Or maybe a black belt could be cut down and you could make something?

I also have both styles and I'm not sure which one I prefer, I love them both. I love that I don't have to root around for my stuff in the Manor because of the divided interior. Sometimes I just need the size and shape of the Willis for what I'm carrying with me for the day. I tend to switch up my bags fairly regularly though, so I never have time to pick a favorite. They're all my favorite!

One of my Manors has a round barrel shape and the others are tall and slim shaped. I like it both ways! When I dunked one of them I shaped it to tall and slim. I have not reshaped the barrel one because I kind of like it that way too. But in answer to your question, yes, you can shape it after a dunk. And yes, the Manor is a bit heavier than the Willis.

MB, if you wouldn’t mind, I’d love to see a comparison photo of your round vs. slimmer shaped Manors. :) I didn’t do a complete rehab on mine so it’s rounder, more relaxed but I’ve seen them more shaped in photos & think they look so good & like a different bag.

I saw a handle on Silver-coach that might work but I think I will first try asking a leather worker about making a replacement, thanks!

Sure! Here are some comparison pics. They do look like different bags. I'm not sure which shape I like better so I keep one each way for now.
