I finally got to that burgundy stewardess and it was like a crime scene. That bag also had soooo much verdigris. OMG!! I gave up trying to get it all off and just dunked. On top of all of that it was filthy. Ugh [emoji58] Surprisingly it’s still has color after two baths and a rinse. View attachment 4400929
LOL, a crime scene! I hear ya.

I'm convinced verdigris is an alien life form in disguise. I'm working on a mahogany Duffle Sac that had it bad. Buckles, eyelets in the strap (both sides), zipper...green gunk everywhere. I had sworn never to knowingly tackle another verdigris-infested bag, but I couldn't pass this one up. Verdigris has been vanquished, and she's coming along nicely.

Burgundy bleeds a lot. I finished up my last coat with black rocks on one of the burgundy bags and was wiping off the extra and color was still coming off! [emoji82]

It came out nice! I love the little drying pad underneath [emoji6]

I so agree with you on the green stuff! I almost didn’t even wash it , it was so much, but I figured I paid for it so why not. But boy was it filthy, I don’t know how the girl modeling it could put it across her body for pictures [emoji22]

Really? I hope the color stays on the bag and doesn’t rub off onto your clothing. Maybe once it’s all dry it will be fine [emoji4]

I told myself no more bags but it’s so hard when you see a beautiful color bag [emoji5]

Looking at my funky Manor flap has me really wanting to try to unwarp it a bit. I've taken off the hardware to have a poke around and am attaching some pics of the mystery stiffener used in mine. I still think mine is a fibre product - it has a texture that looks man-made to me, it's hard to see in the photos but the pattern is like a repeating herringbone and looks pressed on. It has a coarse feel, is thin and flexes, but the texture reminds me of recycled cardboard egg cartons. ( the tan material seen through the turnlock opening - best I could do). But who knows? I'm the polar opposite of an expert on leather

How did you get the turn lock itself off? Mine is sealed behind a very secure leather panel

My husband says I have a green addiction after I ordered this set. I just got it and it’s in pretty good condition. I think I may still dunk the bag to get the shape better.

I can’t understand why he is so surprised, I literally married him 25 years ago, in head to toe green. Yes even the shoes. Everything was the color of the green on the prairie bag [emoji16]

BTW: My mother hated it!! IMG_1187.JPG

That's my concern too. I do not want any color transfer! That's was last night after immediate application. Hopefully after it dries for a few days it won't happen again.

Haha! Too funny! Love all the green. I have a green rogue and market tote. I realized green goes with so much in my wardrobe. I’d love a crossbody green [emoji1]

A pro does use it, but disclaimer:
Baking soda and water is excellent for cleaning tarnished sterling and brass. But it is still a mild abrasive, so it shouldn't be used on softer metals, those where a high polish is required, or repeatedly on anything plated. (I mean, if you really need to give some antique silverware a shine up, it probably wouldn't kill it, but if you repeatedly shine your silverplate, it's going to wear it away.) It's also not appropriate for many stones, although I've used it on rings with diamonds and sapphires/rubies. ESPECIALLY don't use it on or near pearls and avoid many of the semi-precious stones you often find as cabochons in silver jewelry, like turquoise, malachite, and mother of pearl. But, for your sterling and brass without stones, whether it's jewelry, bag hardware, or solid table setting pieces, plain old baking soda is your friend.
Thank you! I've never had to deal with brass before, and I use the tub of jewelry cleaner for my wedding rings.
