Hi, aerinha & MB!

I find it normal for bags not to be as supple just after washing but they will soften again after some use.

Here’s a snippet from a vintage Coach leaflet:
A FEW TIPS ON HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR COACH BAG
After it has dried, the leather may appear to be a little stiff, but as COACH Leather is rich in natural emollients, it will soon regain its characteristic suppleness.

Thank you TBO! That's good to know!

I finished up super dark green Oliver today. The raw edges by the zipper always look dry to me even after conditioning and it bugs me so I touched up the edges with acrylic paint today. I mixed green and black (2:1) and now it looks much better to me and I like how the gold zipper stands out. [emoji6] Light is still reflecting off the edges but I assure you it's darker. [emoji846] I did this to the edges of the strap too. inCollage_20190403_212758158~2.jpeg

You're bag was released in 2012 and it is called the Legacy Leather Medium Candace Carryall, style number 19890. I know that it came is a few red shades, including a dark Cherry Red. The bag in the picture below is in an orangish red shade called Carnelian.

I am not an authenticator but I don't see any problems with your bag and it seems to be authentic. It appears that your bag is missing the decorative tassels and the hangtag but you can get a free silver metal hangtag from Coach Customer Service as mentioned. Call them soon because sometimes is takes awhile for it to arrive - but it is genuine and free!

You could try to find replacement tassels on ebay but I wouldn't bother because it would be hard to make sure that you are getting the same shade of red. You can always decorate the bag with a pretty charm if you wish. Or you could look for tassels in a contrasting color, like navy or black, that would look nice and no need to worry about matching.

I think moisturizing is good but I would try giving it a bath first because it is a grubby and misshapen, but it is a beautiful bag and it has a lot of potential - and it only cost $30!

I almost had a mini-heart attack when you told me the original price. I tend to not think about prices when I pick these up. Now I'm definitely going to give it to a professional to spruce up when I have the chance.

I think I know what my favorite new thrift store is. lol.

I've done that too, especially on the edges of the strap. I don't like how unfinished it looks when they are too light or fuzzy.

If you take it to a coach store one of the associates will do a gentle cleaning and moisturizing for you for free. you don’t have to have a sales receipt or anything. Just tell them that it was a gift or that you inherited it or something. they may also have a hang tag that they can give you for free. it’s best to stop by at a time that they’re not super busy with a lot of customers

My British tan court bag arrived, made in USA. The leather is super supple, but really dirty looking. Debating if I want to but it felt nicer before meeting water. Yet the court bag smells rather foot like...

My courier didn't feel then dunk later if it still looks dirty or smells footy. (Yuck!)

I totally agree. Leather CPR makes a huge difference. My courier took a little extra conditioning to soften up. I literally rub the leather CPR in every direction for each area I condition, while rolling the leather with my fingers underneath. From top to bottom, bottom to top, backwards... even diagonal. I also put my first layer of leather CPR on a couple hours after I dunk the bag. I know I must look crazy to my husband LOL [emoji23]

This looks great! I used that for a navy kieselstein cord bags handle and it still looks great. It actually held up pretty good. Nice job!

Same here! The Swedish Massage technique works wonders to soften and relax the leather.

Cleaner I already own.jpg My $30 Gramercy N/S satchel arrived. Please tell me if you think I overpaid; I'm also thinking I may have bitten off more than I can chew. Here is the link to the original post: https://poshmark.com/listing/Coach-satchel-5c92aa346197452b4c783020 I'm pretty sure this is the same listing (just has more photos; I purchased off Poshmark - https://www.mercari.com/us/item/m13436639060/?ref=search_results . Also what is funny to me is that purses seem bigger online than in real life. I compared to catalog dimensions to a purse I have, but when I unboxed this, it seemed smaller than I was thinking. Actually all of the Made in Italy purses I've considered seem to be small purses in my opinion. Not a problem because I do like the size of it - I just mean that I'm really bad with online vs real life stuff. I've never owned a satchel purse before either - I just have always admired them. So if I can spruce here up a bit, I'm curious to see if I end up really liking this style because I was definitely considering other satchel styles like the Madison Sutton, etc.

Now for my rehab questions. There is staining & an ink spot on the pocket. I can pull the pocket & clean it (if I'm careful) without getting whatever on the lining (as shown in the picture). Would you recommend trying 91% iso. alcohol on the pocket (there is also a pen mark on other side of pocket) or something like EZ Cleaner (think I read using search that @whateve had this work on the suede lining)? Also, I assume I need to treat the pocket just by itself first so that red whatever stain and pen mark don't spread from the nylon to the suede lining. For the suede lining, I was thinking just a solution of dawn dish soap & water (I can use distilled water since my tap water is really hard & will leave stain on dishes in the dishwasher unless I use lots of lemishine). I'm not sure if it's easier to separate it from the bag and scrub it or just submerge the bag in water & scrub. And a cheap nail brush is what some of ya'll have used on the suede? If not, can you link to a suede brush or just provide brand recommendations?

Thank you @katev for the Leather Therapy Restorer and Conditioner recommendation: https://www.amazon.com/Leather-Therapy-50-2185-Restorer-Conditioner/dp/B000HHQ8FW. I also read @whateve post on the Gramercy rehab & I suspect I am going to need something like the leather cement or the black leather refinisher mentioned. I've added additional pictures I took so I'm not sure how easy it is to tell, but I don't just have scratches - I have spots (several, sadly) where it looks like the top layer of the leather was completely removed. So I'm thinking I will need something to fill in those spots (with a glossy finish to blend in with the rest of the bag) to kind of conceal/cover them.

Edit: Added the cleaner/stuff I own. Not pictured (but own) is the 91% iso. alcohol. I will buy the leather therapy mentioned. I will need to purchase a brush to clean the lining & anything else (cement, refinisher, etc). Thanks for any suggestions and/or product links!

Edit 2: I may also look & see if there is anyone/repair shop near me who might could do something on the outside of the bag.
