Lol.. yay! Welcome to the club! I think you've been bit by the rehab bug! I can't wait to see more of your rehabs!

Haha! I think part of the reason is I’m not feeling a lot of the new releases. I still love my Rogues and want them all [emoji23] and Charlie, and I want a Parker eventually. I’m finding I REALLY like the Chelsea line from the mid to late 2000s so maybe I can focus on those for now! And you can get them at pretty great prices which is a nice change lol

My new Derby and wallet set. 1st photo is before cleaning. I only used leather CPR & Blackrocks, one coat each.
This is super clean I am not sure if the bag was used. It’s forest green, almost looks black. I can see the green better on the side of the strap.

What a great bag! I really like the color, looks green to me! Reminds me of my fav bag, my Ivy Rogue which looks like they are similar in color. In the sun the green is much more rich, maybe when you take her outside you’ll see more green!

The great prices is how I ended up with so many bags! It's hard to resist! I had the Chelsea satchel but a friend loved it so I just gave it away to her.

Next is my Chelsea Satchel. She had some scuffs and the sides were droopy. I’m hoping the drying while stuffed will help reshape the sides. I’m going to leave her fully stuffed for a few more days. I gave her a good wipe down with water, vinegar and dawn and then moisturized with black rocks. I did use a little CPR on a few spots that were a little stubborn and that helped a lot. I didn’t take a pic of the back which had the most scuffs and marks but I think now it looks even better than the front. I really love this style and can’t wait to use it!

Thanks for the help and I’m learning some good tips reading back through this thread!

What a cute bag. I never paid much attention to the Chelsea line but after seeing yours, I'm going to watch for one. I love the pebbled leather.

Beautiful job on your rehabs!

I’ve complete 2 of 3 “rehabs!” After seeing the magic some of you work in this thread, this is more just cleaning and moisturizing [emoji23] But I still wanted to post them since I received advice here. My Mineral Chelsea Hobo is still drying, I hope to moisturize it tomorrow.

First up is my Chelsea Field Bag, outside was very good condition, just some scrapes. The interior was covered in pen marks. I used acetone to remove them and then washed the interior with dawn. Either I used too much acetone or not enough as I ended up with some rings and spots but I think it still looks better than before and they are faint. Maybe at another time I’ll try again. I wiped it down with water, vinegar, and a little dawn and then a wet towel to rinse it and then moisturized with Blackrocks. I love her! I want to get a silver chain strap and shorten a bit and then remove the top handle portion that unbuckles and attach a dog leash strap to the buckle so that I can use the bag crossbody.

No it is still blotchy in places. I am debating dunking again. I just don't want to lose more color so I am trying to decide if I'll live with it as is or redunk it. Thanks for asking. Or if anyone has any other suggestions, I'm always up for learning.
I'm sorry. :( I don't have advice but wanted to say I hope your bag evens out or you find a way to color it so that you enjoy using it!

My Willis has been drying in the garage with the window open since 4:30 last night. After doing a tape roller, vacuum and dunking it there is still fur coming out of the seams. I keep thinking of Seinfeld when George pretended he just moved to NY and the woman helping him said “ The previous tenant must have kept monkeys or something in here”. A few stray hairs I get but every single seam is stuffed full...yet the bag was basically fine and smell free.

Here she is after a coat of conditioner

I need advice on the strap. Something is up with it. It is so black and spongy feeling I think it might have been dyed or heavily painted. Are vintage straps this floppy soft? I am only familiar with old Dooneys and their straps are fairly firm

The strap has a few of these cut/tear marks on the underside (not disclosed of course). What if anything should I do with them?
Beautiful! You have a great sense of humor about the fur. I used to cat sit, and if I didn't vacuum at least once a day, you couldn't see the carpet for all the fur!

I found a bag that I was excited to get too, but it smells like cigarettes. It’s looks new too! Why...oh...why [emoji52] I hate leaving bad feedback though, plus it was only $30. But the smell ugh [emoji58]
Are you keeping the bag? I considered sending mine back, but the seller didn't mind that I took a couple weeks to try airing it out and I ended up keeping it. Is it a dunkable bag or does it have lining that can be pulled out and washed? I just got smoke out of an all leather bag and being able to saturate it with vinegar water and airing it outside, plus washing it and lots of outdoor airing, got the scent out. I also kept zeolite or charcoal pouches in the bag on rainy days when I had to bring it in. I don't know if you should do what I did since I was pretty aggressive and it just happened to work on my bag. I got a lot of great advice you can see in the past 2 weeks in this thread.

I'm sorry your bag stinks! I have one like that too. Smell is very important and should most definitely be included in the description. Especially cigarette smoke. Yuck.

In definitely going to keep the bag, I love the color and the style. There is no lining in the bag, so I’m very thankful for that. I have only had one other bag with a smoke smell but that was a coated canvas bag. I left in my garage for a couple months. There is still a little hint of smoke on that one but it’s way better than before. It’s still out there though.

I’m hoping to get the smell out of this one and I will definitely look into your suggestions. I was wondering if washing it would make the smell worse. I was thinking that airing it out before washing was best, but I’m going to try everything I can to get the smell out. Hopefully I’m successful in my quest.

So I’ve been reading how rehabs on light colored bags can be difficult. So I’m not sure what to do with this. The inside is super clean, it did come with what I think is leather soap,( at least DH says that’s what it is). Should I just clean with that? The camera picked up a lot more dirt than the eye can see. Or maybe I’m just tired from rehabbing so many bags!

I don't know if that thing is supposed to come with that bag. It looks like the eraser that comes in the suede care kit.

Yes! I was also advised to air it out first before washing. I spent a week or so airing it out. It lived outside even overnight unless it was raining. When I had to bring it in, I sealed it up with charcoal or zeolite rocks in and around the bag. It really helped the exterior of the leather, but the inside had a harder time releasing the smoke. I ended up spraying 50/50 white vinegar water all over the bag just until it was saturated and letting it air dry outside. I did this 3x and by the last time I couldn't detect smoke over the vinegar! Then I washed it, aired it outside, washed it again, aired it outside and then conditioned it. I was going to air it out much longer before washing but had a run in with ink. Thankfully it worked out. No one can smell smoke in it anymore, but I'm going to keep charcoal packets in it just in case there is anything left to come out. I hope your rehab of your new bag goes well!
