Well, I finished rehabbing my Poppy Whipstitch Wallet in Natural Leather and Brass 47042 and I think it goes very well with my Soho Leather Laced Flap in Buckskin and Brass 11879.

The wallet was an easy rehab but the ebay vendor did exaggerate by listing it as "in 95% perfect condition. Virtually no signs of use or flaws." Because there were signs of wear and the fabric lining was dirty, especially in the change compartment. Also, there was a gummy, dirty, sticky adhesive substance stuck on some of the surfaces. But I didn't complain because the wallet was in really good condition and I got it at a very resonable price.

The gummy gunk came off with rubbing alcohol and a little elbow grease and I used baby wipes to clean the fabric lining. Since the wallet is vachetta I didn't want to mess with it much, but it was grubby and spotty in some areas and the leather felt very dry.

I cleaned the leather with Lexol cleaner and then used Lexol conditioner. It still felt dry so I applied Leather Therapy & Restorer, let it absorb and then quickly buffed the surfaces. The leather did darken but I think some of the darkening is just because it isn't so dry any longer. The color is even and I think it looks good with the Soho Flap Bag.

BTW, I really like the construction of this wallet a lot! It is compact but it is a tri-fold and it holds quite a lot of stuff. There is a large compartment for bills, a zip coin purse, lots of slots for credit cards, and one outside slip pocket and 2 inside slip pockets. The color of the fabric lining in the wallet is almost the same as the color of the lining inside the Soho Flap Bag.

The wallet is a good size for the Soho Flap but I am sure that I will use it with many other bags and I'm really glad that decided to buy it. I greatly appreciate that @BeenBurned brought it to my attention as a good match for the flap bag.

So here is my new set and they only cost me a total of $68 - pretty good! I got the Soho Flap bag for $39 (MSRP = $448 in 2008) and the wallet was $29 (MSRP = $168 in 2012) so it was a very nice deal! I have decorated the bag with my Tony Duquette fob and I'm moving in right now because I can't wait to carry both the bag and the wallet!

Another beautiful rehab, katev! I love how you share your rehab stories. I feel like I’m right beside you. The only thing that’s missing is the perfect smell of Coach leather!

Thank you, there are so many lovely rehabs displayed here. Truly, I don't understand why some women prefer fakes or cheap plastic bags when you can have a beautiful, classic designer bag for not much money!

One thing that this rehab has taught me is not to be afraid of natural vachetta, treating it may change the appearance somewhat - but you might like the way it looks after it has been treated!

I like the natural vachetta a lot, before and after it’s been treated! Yours are so beautiful and you always do such a great job on rehabbing.

I haven’t seen any actual vachetta Coach bags or accessories (I have a couple of LV bags and the handles and trim are vachetta so I think I’ll recognize it) before but I’m going to start looking for them in my consignment shops.

I have a few Coach items that are trimmed with natural vachetta, like my Bonnie Convertible straw tote, and Striped Burlap Bonnie Wallet, and a legacy striped Leah wristlet and a few other items. I have never done much with them besides occasionally cleaning and conditioning with Lexol.

But the Spring 2012 Coach Poppy line, that included my whipstitch wallet, did have several natural vachetta items, including this whipstitch tote 19018:

Thank you for bringing items these to my attention, katev! I do remember that Poppy line now and didn’t think I would be able to properly care for the natural leather. But I’ve developed more confidence with my LV items so I’m hoping to find some from Coach. I really love the look.

How do you care for your LV natural leather items?

I love coach vachetta. And here is a great link on how to take care of it.

Hi all,

As you might remember, I posted about washing a pretty suede jacket in the washing machine. Here is the post.

So one said don't do it, and I posted this photo.

Then @coach943 suggested the product she wrote about above. Well, I just pulled the jacket out of the washer. It's much, much cleaner and does not look ruined at all. Letting it dry now. It will take a day or two I assume and I will need to brush it and spray it again, but I think this will work well.

Took some before photos. As soon as the jacket is done, will post the before and after.

I really like this product so far. Stay tuned.

OK, jacket dried and it came out awesome.

Here are a couple photos. It's hard to get a good photo of this jacket

After

And here is the product I used. I took the soap and put it a cap full in a bowl and then, took the suede brush and brushed the jacket gently with the soap. And then, I added soap to the washing machine and washed it on cold. Then, I let it dry on a towel. Then, I threw it in the dryer for 10 min to get the wrinkles out and that fluffed up the nap to my delight.

This is is a great product.

The jacket looks wonderful. I have used Therapy Therapy laundry products to wash and condition leather items in the washing machine and it always works great!

Courage paid off! Beautiful results, thanks for sharing.

Back in the 1970s (dating myself here) I paid a seamstress to make me a satin-lined suede jacket, with bound buttonholes and deer antler buttons. I was always afraid to wear it because it got stained or soiled so easily. I donated or sold it long ago...but now I know I probably could have rehabbed it too!
