Today the aubergine city bag arrived, the one @whateve said would likely be an easy rehab and saved me $100 on.

It’s actually got surprisingly nice, soft, floppy leather just like my court bag from 98 and my Rambler, despite being an 05 China made bag.

That said - the interior is NOT clean like the seller said AND it cost me $41 in customs fees so that ate up some of my original savings on the cost.

It is absolutely full of animal hair in every. single. pocket. Now, I have pets so I understand how hair can get inside stuff but it’s almost like someone used it for transporting animals. There’s more hair jammed down into every single seam than there is leather almost. I can’t accurately describe JUST HOW MUCH HAIR is in this thing.

Time to grab my vacuum and get to work.

Ugh! I've had that happen! I'm sorry. I wish sellers would tell the truth. She was probably so used to it she didn't notice it. I would wash it. I couldn't stand putting my stuff into that unless I knew every single hair was gone.

Yeah I’m overall happy with the bag itself and the leather on it is really nice. I was pleasantly surprised in that regard.

Wash it as in dunk it?

Yes, dunk it. If the leather is as nice as your other one, it should do well in a bath. I wonder why your leather is so much nicer than my 2005 one.

Hi all ... I know this is for Coach rehabs, but there doesn't seem to be a general thread and I could really do with some advice. I think this bag is from the 70s/80s, very dirty and smelly. So, having read a lot of the tips, I gave her a dunk in Luke warm water with a little Castille soap for about 20 minutes, and scrubbed at the worst stains. About half an hour after taking her out, this area of discoloration appeared (first pic) - almost as though it wasn't wet at all. A few days later she's nearly dry, the discoloration is a little less but still very noticeable, with a sort of watermark around it. Can this be remedied at all? Should I dunk again? All advice gratefully appreciated! Pics below, one shortly after dunking and the other today:

Hiya Thrifty! Sorry, I don't have any experience with this. Makes me wonder if it was stained with something that bleached the color. Hopefully others will respond.

I'm only familiar with Coach leathers, and I've never seen a reaction like that, but I'll offer some thoughts on what might be going on and what you might try.

It seems like the leather soaked up the water unevenly, and/or it is drying unevenly. I would wait a few more days until you are sure it's totally dry all over. Then try a light coat of Blackrock Leather n Rich, wipe off excess with paper towel, and let dry overnight. Buff with horsehair brush or microfiber cloth. It might help even out the color, but no guarantees!

As a last resort you could try dunking it again for a longer time, but I hesitate to recommend that, because there's no way to tell if it will help, and it might make it worse.

I'm sorry this happened!

The first is a 1996 Waverly Tote, very good condition, just needs cleaning and condish. The second I was so excited about, and for $20, I couldn’t pass up. 1996 Handle Backpack in Red. But with a few ink stains. Ugh. What would you do? I still LOVE the bag and am not sorry I spent $20 on it, but my natural sense of order will be really challenged if I let it go.

Omg you found that handle backpack in red! [emoji7] I'd leave the ink alone since it's on the back.. you can try to cover it up too with acrylic paint. Someone did cover it up successfully a few pages back.
