haha-I need to get my Bridgit out! I've been thinking of that bag a lot lately, one of my faves. She's also been packed away in her lil dustbag for a few months, would be interesting to see if she needs more BlackRocks.

Oh, it's a shame to neglect her. She's quite lovely. Definitely recommend taking her out for a stroll and some TLC if necessary.

I pulled mine out yesterday and DH said "where did you get that ugly thing?" LOL! I told him it was one of my favorites.

When I rehab bags that have buckle straps, I always dry the straps under a pile of books to flatten them out. However, I notice that after time, they always curl up. What do you do to prevent this or does it not bother you?

Cleaning two coach bags - help

This is my first post, and I stumbled upon the forum via google-fu searching for help on cleaning two coach bags that I recently purchased. These are my first coach bags, and I have no idea about cleaning the leather (cowhide on both). They are slightly used, but seems the original owner was fond of uncapped pens, so I am dealing with: unclean leather surface (typical brownish edges, some spots on the bottom), and pen marks inside.

So far I was only able to trace the names of these bags, from the numbers in the inside tags, but that told me nothing about cleaning. The more I read, the more I was confused - magic marker, rubbing alcohol, acetone, coach offerings, and mixed results for all types of remedies. So I am here...

  1. Bag 1 - Yellow colored, COACH YELLOW LEATHER SARAH TOTE -NWT- STYLE # F13094 (B0985-F13094)
  2. Bag 2 - Green colored, COACH SAGE LEATHER HOBO BAG TOTE HOBO PURSE HANDBAG (A1075-F13732)

Aim is to restore their beauty. The only things I have is Timberland leather restoration cream, and acetone. Any help will be appreciated. I do not have PM privileges here yet, but my email is [email protected].

Thanks in advance.

Getting ink out of lining is easy, getting ink out of leather is a b*tch, and usually doesn't get much of it out it without fading the leather.

Pull the lining out of the bag and use hairspray on the ink and the ink just foams up in the hairspray, blot it away.......please note that aerosol hairspray works better for me. I've tried 2 sprays in pump bottles and they didn't work as well. The propellant must help removing the ink too. I've also used soap and water or spray n wash as well. Rinsing it out under the faucet. Just tuck the purse under your arm to keep from getting it wet.

I don't mess with leather bags with ink stains, I tried once, it was a whole lot of work with little success. Somebody better than me will be along to help with that.

I have never had much luck with ink stains on leather but on the lining you should be able to get the ink out. I have used hand sanitizer or Amodex. For the exterior, I just use a mild spray cleaner, like the kind you get you dilute with water. Any cleaner that doesn't have bleach in it would probably be fine. You can even use soap and water as long as you don't saturate it. Water won't hurt these purses but you could end up with water marks if just one part gets soaked. Don't use acetone or alcohol on the leather - it might destroy the sheen. I don't know anything about Timberland restoration cream. I would first try simple mild cleaners to get the spots out. If they don't work, then post here again for more suggestions. Once you get the exterior clean, the Timberland cream would probably be fine for conditioning the leather.
