I love British Tan. I have Frye boots that are the same color. Yes, it is 9085. I got it at Savers for $24 this summer. I can't take any credit for how great it looks. It was in perfect condition, and didn't really need a bath or conditioning, but I did it anyway. I blame it on my new obsession with saving Coach bags. It is really really big. I have the strap set the longest, and when I put my hand (whole arm, really) in to find something, I can barely touch the bottom! I had to take my husband in for a procedure recently, and I was able to fit a book and a small knitting project in it with room to spare.
Good luck in your search.

I may have just got in over my head haha, I found the same duffle on ebay a few minutes before the auction ended and bid on it and won. From the pictures and listing, it says there are some "ink and water marks" but since it is such a large bag I'm hoping these marks won't be too terrible or that I might be able to camoflauge (SP?) them with paint. Once it gets here I'll have to check back to see if anyone has found a color match in paint for this color or tips for minimizing stains. I'm excited though, I love the color of this bag and I love large bags - thanks again for posting that picture and the boots sound great too!

I once went out to lunch with some work friends and at some point during the car ride, they put a bottle (almost empty) of window washer fluid in my bag (I had left it in the back seat) to prove to me how huge the bag actually was and I didn't even notice until I was back at my desk! Luckily it was only a bag I had bought from TJ Maxx, some type of huge tote/duffle, but I did realize at that point I needed to size down... just a little though haha!

Thank you both for the response! I was originally thinking the one from Turkey looked in better condition than the one from USA, but there weren't a lot of pictures for the one made in USA but it was listed there was only one owner and after messaging the seller it was apparently his/her mother's bag. They didn't post a picture of the creed so the seller messaged me the picture and I was thinking I was going to go with the one made in USA because the current price was lower than the other and it seemed like I was getting something of a deal because the seller didn't even know what the creed was at first so she might not have known what she had, but not long after she sent the message she ended the listing without any bids! That's the second time this has happened this week!

Now I am left with the one from Turkey (unless I decide to wait it out), and everything looked pretty decent except the strap either looks ripped (although listing says no rips/tears) or it is pieced together poorly. If this is a slow day for anyone else and you want to take a look at the listing, see below. It looks like something is going on with the strap in Picture 2. I know I am probably getting ripped off at these prices, based on what I've seen you guys get your bags for, but after buying some of the new legacy pieces, this is like the deal of the century for me ahah!

Also, it's been a while since I have done anything with Ebay, but can a seller remove a listing at any time? I didn't bid on the one bag because I like to wait until closer to the end (still had more than a day left), but if I would have bid on the item would the seller still have been able to remove the listing?

Thanks for the help!!
I think this bag looks beautiful. I have seen that same thing on many Coach straps. It just looks like it needs a few stitches. This isn't very difficult to do. You just sew through the holes that are already there or you can glue it down. However, the seller says that all the stitching is intact, so I would send her a message asking about that spot that looks like the stitching is coming out. I don't think it is a bad price, either. I would expect a bag like this to go for at least $50 on ebay.

A seller can remove a listing at any time unless it has bids and there are less than 24 hours left. If there are no bids, the seller can end it anytime. If there are bids and a seller ends a listing, he either has to sell it to the highest bidder or pay fees for ending it early. You can contact the seller that ended the listing early to tell her that you are interested. Sometimes they will relist it as a buy it now for you.

Yes, it's really that big! I think my dog would fit in it, and he's NOT a purse dog.

Getting back to your new duffle bag - Congrats! You're going to love it.

Water marks are probably not a problem if you are going to bathe it. I think they'll wash away. On the drawstring bag I got out a pretty big dark ballpoint pen mark, by using a white art eraser on it. It kind of rubbed out the finish, but with many many coats of Black Rocks, it doesn't look too bad. I think it depends on how much the ink bothers you. It was front and center on the bag, so it really bothered me. So I decided to go for it. Others here who are more expert at this may suggest better ways of getting it out. I still couldn't get out a grease stain even with Oxyclean, Dawn and washing it twice. No wonder I had to buy another jar of Black Rocks - I've used quite a lot on the drawstring bag moisturizing it!

Found a bag that I love but the white stain kind of scares me...It looks a bit like mold maybe but not sure? Thoughts??

My Gracie has a white stain like that inside. I haven't gotten it out but I haven't worked that hard on it. Mine looks like white-out.

I hope you get it. It is a great price.

The "I" month code is a little worrying but I have never seen a counterfeit Italian bag.

I had a job interview and missed the end of the auction but there were no bidders so hopefully it gets re-listed and I may take my chances on it! I have been dying for a bag with that structure for a long time and the stain is on the inside...So as long as the stain doesn't transfer to anything that goes inside my purse and isn't actually mold or anything it would be fine...I might try to hand wash the lining if it pulled out and see what happened but need to cross my fingers that it gets re-listed first!

What about taking those pebbled bags out in the rain/snow? Do you know if they would stain at all like the british tan bags do? I have been on the hunt for black so that I could take it out all winter in the snow but if this type of leather can handle winter I would prefer to have a brown bag since I only own one other brown bag.

The lining pulls out in this style but it doesn't pull out in the Gracie, which is probably why I haven't been more aggressive in cleaning it.

I have no idea about how these bags would handle the rain/snow but I would suspect they would do fine. Hyacinth carries her Sheridan bags in the rain and they have a similar finish. The creed on the Italian bags say they have been treated to retain their appearance. I wouldn't bid on one of these if it were smashed because I don't think there is anything you can do to fix that. I also don't know how you would fix any exterior wear on them.

My Gracie is the same color as the listing, I think. It is a really pretty color. I have a Sutton in black but it is missing the long strap. That seller has really skinny arms! I am petite and even though I can fit the short straps on my shoulder, it isn't comfortable that way.

You could always contact the seller and say you want to buy it from her for her starting price. That way you won't have to worry about someone bidding it up.

I think this is one of those mistakes they made. 1995 was the year that they reversed the month and year codes on some of the Sheridans. They had just started using the new numbering system and the Italy plant was new.

Oh, ok. Thanks for the information.

Now I wish I had purchased that bag. It was very inexpensive compared to some others on ebay. :smile1:

I already posted some musette stuff but just a quick recap on her: My instincts said the ink in the front pocket would seep through and worsen the front of the bag, and I'm glad I was careful since a second small ink spot did seep through, and I only barely dipped her in cold water just long enough to reshape the handle and help plump some of the side/back panel flatness. (She seems plump in the befores but I had her stuffed) In the after shots, she's holding her own shape. Luckily she wasn't terribly dirty and didn't need aggressive cleaning!

I wish I'd have taken photos instantly upon opening her but instead I put Lexol on her because I was too in love to think straight. So she looked really dry and almost "gray" colored upon opening the box. She even had some dusty residue that scared me like maybe a bit of a mold, but apparently it was just dust. She was from Tucson so I'm lucky she wasn't dry rotted!!!

In this photo, just one ink dot appears (pre soak)

The second small dot shows up in this last photo.

I am still working on some acrylic paint camouflage. Paint doesn't photograph well because the paint is "flat" so the camera sees the paint differently than the eye sees the leather. (annoying)- it looks better IRL. And since I love the vintage patina, I've not put blackrocks on just yet. (thinking about it since she still scuffs easily but it usually rubs out.) The camera catches scuffs and scratches more than it appears IRL
