Here are the after pics of the white legacy zip. I took them with natural light and they are a bit gray but I think that the color is pretty close to reality.

she looks pristine and beautiful!! Much nicer than my white bleecker bucket does! This makes me wish my Legacy Zip hadn't just been deemed QUESTIONABLE by Hyacinth. I am having rough luck with the well done fakes lately...uggg.

So let's see this bag!

LOL-congrats!
QUOTE]

Wow! I can see why you all wanted this one!

That is so funny! I just assumed that you weren't interested since you already had one. I had other bags I was bidding on so I didn't want to spend too much. I'm glad we didn't bid you up too high. Ledobe said she thought it would hit $80, so you got a good deal! It appears to be great shape!
!

OK..I'm about to stick a photo over in the second-hand thread once I get my darn netbook with the photos stored properly working. I'm on my DH's pc right now. I'm so tech-challeneged.

I think she looks brand new!

Absolutely gorgeous! !!

Thank you, she was a challenge!

Jessi, so sorry to hear about your Legacy Zip but I am sure that you will find a nice, authentic one soon. They are terrific bags!

Hello all! I have a rehab that's about 90% done. Pics in a second.

The backstory is that I had been stalking the Coach City Bag on the Coach website. I only recently got into handbags (hence my screenname :D), and I found that I was more drawn to the classic styles than trendy ones.

Anyhoo, my dh asked me what I wanted for my birthday and I told him. He made plans to take me to the Coach store, but I have a tendency to get nervous about paying full price for things, and that's exactly what happened. I came here to see if I could find any information about Coach sales and outlets, etc. Then I came across a few threads discussing the how much better the leather quality was on the old Coaches.

I started thinking...why should I pay full price for a new Coach that would be of lesser quality? To make a long story short, I found THIS thread, read every page, then made a decision. I wanted a vintage Coach City. :graucho:

I found one on ebay, had it authenticated here, and bought. When she finally arrived, I had a moment of intense panic because she was pretty...deflated, for lack of a better word. Soft, flimsy, flat, and very blah. I thought oh no, what have I done?

I bathed her, rinsed her, stuffed her, and let her dry to about 70%, then I massaged some Leather CPR in and polished the brass. Once she's fully dry I'm going to condition her again and touch up the straps with some black acrylic paint.

I'm in love! I'm SO happy with her and I can't thank you ladies enough for the wealth of information here.

Thanks for reading that long, boring story! And now, here she is, before:

I'll be getting some paint from Michael's tomorrow to touch up a few areas. I can't wait to start using her!!!

Unfortunately, there is a sad ending to this story. I have been bitten by the rehab bug and there are currently 14 items on my watch list. It's not looking too good for me at the moment. :roflmfao:

We never find rehabbing stories boring!

You can't beat the classic beauty of a black City Bag - it's always stunning. Great job on your first rehab, but I always warn people that it is addictive! :graucho:

Isn't it amazing how beat-up and awful those old bags can look? But then they they bounce back beautifully with just a little TLC!

I totally agree, why pay full-price when you can find lovely bags for a small amount and then bring them back to beauty and usefulness with just a little effort! Plus you have the opportunity to acquire fabulous bags that are no longer available. Like I just revealed a white legacy zip, and although Coach still sells that bag in black, brown and tan, you can't get it new in white any longer. Plus the new ones are $298 and made in China, my white bag was made in the US and cost me $8 at a garage sale!

Using the black acryllic paint to touch up the edging on the strap will make a huge difference. Since you are now officially bitten by the rehabbing bug you should invest in Black Rocks Leather N Rich conditioner. You will be amazed at how much better it can make a vintage bag look - even a beautiful vintage black bag that already looks amazing!

What a great job you did! I wasn't as successful on my first rehab. Congratulations. I expect to see your success stories on here a lot from now on. Look at it this way, you can buy 5 or 6 or more vintage for the price on one new.

Yes, it is truly amazing and rewarding to bring out the beauty in these old bags. I loved every single reveal in this thread. It was like purse porn lol.

That white bag is gorgeous! And what a great deal. I have got to find some thrift stores in my area. My goodwill didn't have much when I went by there the other day.

Thanks for the top about Black Rocks. Investment is the perfect word. I'm on the hunt for more bags and my best friend is begging me to find a bag for her. I know my mom will want one too once I show her mine. Rehabbed Coaches might become my go-to gift from now on so I need to stock up lol.

Thank you! And that is exactly how I'm looking at it. Less expensive, great leather quality, and classic styles all in one. You can't beat that. That new city bag probably would have been my last frivolous purchase for the next few months because we've tightened the budget to save for a bigger house. I love to shop and was getting depressed but now I can keep shopping with no guilt!:roflmfao:

Wow! How do some people get their bags in such awful condition? ?!

It never ceases to amaze me how people mistreat their bags! I was recently signing up for a Zumba class and another women there had a Black Station bag that she just threw on the floor! I wanted to run over and pick the poor thing up and scold the owner.

She looks great, look how the leather plumped up. Rehabbing is addictive, look at it this way, you can buy many old bags for the cost of one of the new cheaply made bags!
