Check your phone book for Tack shops...equestrian stuff...or maybe a farm store to find Blackrocks...otherwise e-bay, etc.

And yes, straps and hangtag. Sounds like you're picking up your skills quickly. Everyone has their own process for rehabbing, so the more you read, you'll get the hang of it and figure out what works best for you. Continued good luck!
I found Leather CPR at Home Goods. I think some of the stores like Home Goods or Bed Bath Beyond, have things sometimes and not others. But that is the only place I found it. I live in an area with farms and hourses too. Lots of leather cleaners and conditioners, but not Black Rocks or CPR!

Well, I just researched Diutsh furs, and it turns out he also designed furs for Oscar de la Renta. They no longer appear to be in business, were around from the 50's thru 80's. I found several of his items in auctions and the furs he designed were just gorgeous. I bet this one is stunning in person.

Thanks for the information. I wonder what time period Bonnie Cashin worked with Diutsh? It looks 60s or 70s to me, but it really is timeless.

Hello, everyone! Thank you for all of the wonderful advice; I certainly would not have made it this far into the rehabilitation process without all of your help! With that said, My purse just about dried completely today, by the time I returned home from work, and I was ecstatic! I just finished conditioning it for the first time with Leather CPR about an hour ago. The color of the leather after drying and after the Leather CPR are, basically, identical to the purse's original color.

I have pictures of the purse in natural sunlight, taken before the bath, and pictures of the purse taken a short while ago after the first application of Leather CPR. I am definitely seeing improvements! As for the pesky, mysterious mark on the back of the purse, I noticed it looks less severe than it did before, and my hope is that the Blackrock will help deliver some wonderful results.

Please excuse the picture heaviness of this post!

We love pictures! That's a gorgeous color, nice work!

Some of you might remember Nekolassas rehab work on this bag. I decided to have another go at getting the ink (?) stains out of the bag, and overall I am happy with the results. I am wearing this bag at the moment, and it definitely does get alot of comments.

I've included a couple of pictures of some of the marks on the bag. I've also added the results pics straight after so you can see the comparison. The largest marks seemed to be some sort of fluid ink or dye, but there are also lots of biro ink marks too - these are mostly out of visible areas though.

I took a few risks with this bag. After a bit of research, and after considering a complete redye, I used dry cleaners fluid (also known as white spirits) to try and remove the ink. It did not take any of the colour away, but smells quite strong. I wasn't happy with the results of the white spirits, so I used laundry spray stain remover and washed her in my washing machine. The orange dye seemd to come off in the wash. I think this bag was originally red, so I didn't mind the dye coming out.

More in the next post

After coming out of the wash, I line dried this bag for a few days and then used 2 applications of emu oil. This soaked into the leather very quickly. I wanted to try and darken the colour a little, so I used almond oil until I was happy with the colour. Finally I used a leather conditioner to protect and help water proof the bag.
