Coach Raising Prices

I for one doubt I will be buying any FP anytime soon. The styles don't really appeal, and the prices definitely don't work for me. I won't spend $500+ on a bag. No matter who makes it. It's just not worth it to me. We'll see where things sit in a year or so.

Well, clearly they're not doing good at boutiques compared to their factory outlet stores. And they clearly need to change. Some customers will only buy at outlets, some customers don't like the devaluing of the brand.

If they learn from Mulberry's mistakes, perhaps they might change the quality and not up the prices too much, not deleting styles too quickly. But I'm sure they can still compete with Michael Kors for example with factory bags that are less than $300. Perhaps their future FP will be higher quality and please the $500-1200 range consumers.

I'm tired of being on the Coach forum and reading all the negative crap about Coach. People saying they won't pay those prices for the fall line.... not good enough quality.....

People are on a brand forum because they like the current and previous bags produced by that company, and, likely, are happy at the current price point. When the company goes in an entirely new direction at a new price point it's understandable and expected that not all of those same people will be thrilled with the changes. That doesn't make their opinions invalid.

Regardless of the price point, I don't care for any of these styles and if there was something I was interested in, Coach would have to demonstrate a considerable change in quality/manufacturing to justify the proposed pricing.

I didn't say their opinions were invalid. Neither is mine.

It will be interesting to see how it all plays out. In this market (south central US) the FP Coach and Kors stores are one storefront apart. Kors is always packed and Coach is almost always dead. If Coach were to raise their prices even further, I don't think people would be going out of their way to drive across town to the Coach outlet while Kors is still right there, booming.

It's not hostile at all. It's my opinion that I'm tired of being on the Coach forum and reading all the negative crap about Coach. People saying they won't pay those prices for the fall line.... not good enough quality..... they don't the prices and haven't seen the bags or the quality. Debbie downers. Big time. Old. My opinion. If you don't share it or like that's your choice....doesn't change mine.

I definitely read it as hostile, and obviously several other people do as well.
We get it. You like the fall bags and don't mind paying double for them. More power to you, but your attitude is more likely to turn people off than change their opinions. You haven't seen the new bags in person either so how do you know the quality will be worth the price any more than people that don't like the new styles?

And your post doesn't change my opinion of your original statements, nor your overall dispositions towards others here. I've been on this forum for some time. In that time I have seen more than 100,000 posts celebrating Coach and have initiated and/or participated in multiple reveals of that nature. On this forum, i search and when I do, I still see 1,000s+ of threads in this forum's history where many, most of us celebrate Coach many, most of the time. People who cherry pick and who do so aggressively and/or hostilely offend those of us who've participated here for quite some time. I still perceive your post and now your follow-up in the original manner that I shared here. Good night.

I'm not trying to change anyone's opinions! I buy what I like and what I want.

You can take it anyway you want. I wasn't hostile and I'm not hostile. You have your opinion and I have mine. If I say I'm tired of hearing all the negativity about Coach's fall bags it means this....I'm tired of hearing all the negativity about Coach's fall bags. You saying you've been here for years and you have a right to an opinion and I don't.............whatever!

I'm here to look at bags....and not just Coach bags......and belong to a couple other threads......so ignore away. I'm not here for opinions on what I buy because I know what I like. I' am tired of reading the hate for Coach fall bags and it was the same from a lot of people on here when Legacy bags came out a couple years ago. I know people need to vent...........still it's negative and a downer. I'm not a negative person......so please all of you who are offended put me on your ignore list and I will do the same to all the nay sayers....then we're all good. Carry on!

My mom and I were in the FP Store at our mall over the weekend. First time I'd ever been since I normally order online. She was thinking about a Borough and we had an old discount letter so off we went. I think there were two other people that shopped with us but we were the only two that bought anything.

I don't go that often to the mall but every time I do and it's always a weekend, that store is empty. There was one other bag behind the counter that was obviously being held and if the FP stores are just becoming holding rooms for people who purchase online but don't want to wait, then I don't forsee much of a future for them. It makes no sense financially to carry the expense of a store and its employees when you can just ship the product out.

And with Macys and Dillards right there, those stores usually have more of a selection and it's easier to do your own touch and feel. Not to mention, their frequent sales.

I think an MK store either just opened in this mall or is about to very close to them on the same level. At another mall where both stores were open, MK was packed while Coach not so much. Same thing at the department store counters too. MK seems to be going after them like BK and McDonalds. When I was in NYC, an MK store was under construction just a few doors down from Coach in Columbus circle. I suspect it's going to get very interesting between these two and maybe Coach is trying to opt out too soon which would be unfortunate in my opinion.

I hope Coach doesn't forget us little people who either can't or won't spend that kind of money on a purse. I personally think they belong competing with MK and not LV but I'm ready and open to the future. Bring it on!

Well, the way you wrote your earlier post is hostile and will easily offend some posters. Some customers just aren't into the new style direction perhaps Coach is going with, doing this fall line.

But it's already May. So if they want to really up the price, they better already have a lot of changes ready to go within the company, especially quality of bags and whether there will be bags of similar designs in the factory line.

And all this negative crap is important opinions. Because if Coach wants to raise the prices, they better be ready to challenge these negative crap because the amount of customers willing to pay $1000+ is decreasing. And Coach isn't known for high end quality. There will definitely be a lot of customers who'd rather hope Coach competes with the Kors/TBurch range of prices, not $600+.
