Coach Raising Prices

I've heard this for the last couple of years, but it hasn't happened yet, so I'll believe it when I see it.
They continue to make lots of bags in the $200 - $400 range, and have introduced several new lines in the last year.
They may introduce more bags in the higher $1000+ price range, but I don't think they will eliminate bags under $600 or even $400.

True. We have also heard many many times about PCEs being ended, hasn't happened. We've heard rumors of deletes going away -- hasn't happened. So I'll believe this if I see actual evidence.

I'm still taking a break though. My collection is complete after this PCE and my money will be going to other areas like furniture, decorating, etc.

I just don't see how Coach can sell bags for $5,000 when they are Made in China regardless of their quality improvements. If they turn to Italian or French manufacturing to compete with the likes of LV, Prada it just seems silly since they started out in New York.

They really shouldn't be exploring new markets without first creating a defining permanent style that would be popular for at least 10 years. From Borough to boho, these days they are all over the place.

Maybe they should play around with fragrances more, its always the money maker in major design houses, just like penny slots in casinos.

From what I talked about with my SA today, it sounds like the outlets are definitely here to stay and they will become what the FP stores are now. The regular boutiques are going to get remodeled and become high end stores; Mulberry and LV were brands she mentioned. We looked at a few of the Veevers bags in the system, and the Dakota, which is the fringed flap bag from the preview (reminds me of the Patricia or Stewardess), is going to be $798.

I laughed out loud when I saw that in her computer.

And people say they're like museums now, I wonder what they'll become next? Cemeteries where the bags go to die?

Well, in their plans they did say that they were planning to add 15 new outlets and were remodeling the FP stores.

I hope it works out for Coach, I really do. But we'll see what happens....

 I would have laughed too. Coach is going to model their stores like LV? Wow. My local Coach has already made changes to their store and they get no business. My SA says there's very few serious customers now since the change. Maybe they need to get back to what they were and stop pretending to be something they're not.

I wonder what they plan on doing in Macy's, Dillard's, etc. to make their displays and counters look more high end. Will just seem strange to me to see something too high end in a Macy's.

They will probably make more "exclusive" bags for those stores that are only available there.
Some Macy's are extremely high end: Herald Square, South Coast Plaza, etc. Just not the ones most of us have available.

Why did you laugh out loud at the Dakota?

I really hope Coach has done their homework and they understand what they are getting into. I've been a longtime customer carrying Coach pretty much exclusively for the last 24 years.

It was very evident to me yesterday that Coach's sales are lacking. I went to the FP store at Lenox Square Mall in Atlanta to exchange some shoes I got on Coach.com. I was looking to use my PCE so I asked to try on a couple of flats I liked. I was the only person in the store, with 4 SA's, for about 15 minutes. Next, I looked around trying bags and messing with wristlets and wallets another 20 minutes or so. A total of 3 people came into the store during that time and left without making a purchase.

As I was leaving, I noticed the Michael Kors store right next door to Coach. The store was PACKED. Michael Kors is a bit smaller than Coach but there were at least 25 people in there! It was a big contrast between the 2 stores.................

Oh tears, as a broke student I scrimped pennies to try and get a coach poppy bella tote then found out the line was discontinued, then didn't find anything for ages and now I won't be able to afford any of it
