Coach Raising Prices

...up to $5000? Excuse you? That's a ridiculous jump, even if it's only a couple bags at that price point.

Yeah I cannot see anyone paying $5k for a Coach. If they are truly losing money, the way to recover this loss is not by raising prices (in their case). Their demographic is just not going to pay it.

Don't think they will eliminate the Coach Factory as this seems to be their cash cow

Coach does have a 10K and a 20k bag on their website (men's). I wonder how many they have sold. Maybe men are willing to spend more because they generally don't buy a lot of bags???

I'm never going to buy a Coach bag for that price. It's just not worth it to me. Seriously, what are they thinking? Most people that carry Coach get the mff stuff that's "marked down." I doubt their flagging sales will pick up with a price hike. Dumb move, Coach.

I chose not to believe any of it.
TPTB at Coach want us to scurry about willy-nilly and frantically buy a bunch of stuff to raise their revenue for next quarter. The timing of the article doesn't escape me; 24 hours before a PCE.

I love the fall stuff. I can see getting one...maybe two. I'm going to enjoy buying less and enjoying more. I already have a bag collection of more than Coach that could last many women several lifetimes! :)

Insane. Dillards had lots of bags on +30% off today. Never seen that many left on the second day of sale.
Was in outlet yesterday. Floor set had been changed AGAIN. All the bags ( even newer stuff) was no more than 139.00. No coupons. It was lunch time and there wee 3 people in the store.
I am a bag junkie. I had coupons and birthday money. Couldn't find a single thing at either store to spend my money on. BORING. No pizzazz.
And to hear the entry level price is 600? There will still be sales of course. But who wants to plunk down money on boring?

My reasoning for not getting an LV neverful is I can get several Saff totes and enjoy the variety of colors and shapes. If I wanted to spend a bucket of money on one bag, it probably wouldn't be Coach...just saying...

Absolutely!! I have and will spend money on other bags, but I have always found Coach to be a manageable price point that gives me quality AND variety. I may buy a bag if I fall in love with one from the fall line, however, I haven't seen anything relative to the quality of the production of their bags that justifies a price increase like that.

There are more boutique brands out there that still make BEAUTIFUL quality bags at a lower price point. I do love Coach so I will wait and see what the fall may bring, but unless I see a huge jump in quality, my purchases will be limited.

On the bright side, perhaps when everyone stops buying we will all finally get PCE's again asking us to "come back."

I don't mind higher prices, but they need to stop devaluing the brand with the sales and outlets. It's easier to pay full-price for an LV knowing I won't see it on sale 2 weeks later.

This.

Not so much with the occasional 25% off - maybe only do it twice a year? - but, if they want to sell at TJ Maxx or DSW type stores, and have a specific MFF line, they need to separate it from the high-end stuff with another name. Plenty of lines do it successfully. Now it just looks like Coach has an identity crisis and is desperate.

ETA: and they need to stop Macy's, etc. from overshadowing the boutiques.

Thinking about using Coach's new strategy if I ever need to snag a new man. So, before I start my manhunt, I'll go on an eating binge to put on an extra 50-60 pounds. I'm sure 🔮that I'll be Mrs George Clooney and Coach will be the LV of $5900 handbags. 👍

I don't understand raising their prices to LV level or just below. They would then be directly competing with LV and other premium designers. I think that is must worse than being in competition with Kate Spade, MK, TB. At least in the LV forum Coach is looked at as being cheap, probably because of the saturation with MFF. I doubt that anyone who consistently buys LV would purchase a Coach instead of an LV at the same price point.
