i think the only brand that has had a comparable (or near) warranty like coach is dooney and bourke.

i've taken in bags that were a year or more old needing repaired and was given credit for a new item! granted, i never took in something 8 years+. and this is at the dooney boutiques.

OT but i had an experience w Dooney- the PVC coating on my bag cracked and i was offered a $45 gift card if i shipped it back. problem was internationa lshipping was gonna cost me over $30 so their warranties kind of exclude us Canucks.

"But I agree that the list of bags you mentioned were great lines as well... Bags that wouldn't fall apart if you looked at them funny. It seems strange to me that a lot of these leathers that Coach is making bags out of are uber-sensitive, no? That shimmery leather, and the Sabrina-type metallic? I just feel like everyone, in about a month or two (just saw one about an Audrey, actually), will be posting threads about how their bag has all these awful-looking scratches, and that the leather isn't sturdy, and "why would Coach make a bag out of such materials?" My question would be, "why would you buy a bag that was made out of that material?" I saw all of those shimmery leather bags at the store too, and said "ooh, how pretty," then walked away, toward my older style bags that were more sturdy. "

I was one who purchased a gold textured metallic Audrey. And yes, I have concerns, but knowing coach stands by their products, and took a chance on buying something I love. I wanted pretty. I also have bags I rotate between, based on need and weather. So, it won't be used everyday for years, like my first coach.
I was not into most of the heavier legacys, with the strap over the top. While I can appreciate it, and the love for them, i would have a hard time with most of them. I do have a Peyton, which is lighter than the others I remember.
I just gave away a kooba bag to my niece, as the bag sure didn't hold up like others I've had. The inside stitching undone, the leather fading. Went to kooba forum, and read kooba customer service us a joke. Granted, I didn't try for myself, and dear niece loved it.
I think with any product there is a risk when purchasing. And, when the product doesn't live up, it's frustrating. But the bottom line for me, is if they stand behind their product.

lol that's what a customer told me..

I've never been and wasn't a huge fan of their crazy coloful prints..and the leather is too plain imo but if they have as good as a policy as coach I definitely would steer people there if they are looking for alternatives cos I think their pricing is par or a bit less even?

wow my satchel was perfection..im sorry to hear about your experience.
I am a new Coach buyer and last August I purchased one from an Outlet Store. It was made of coated canvas or PVC. First I thought I was buying coated leather. Then I used this purse for 6 months and found two scratches on the back that would not go away. I called Coach, a shoe cobbler and have Googled about how to remove them. All in all, I received no help or recommendations. Do you have any suggestions?

We have a rehab thread for questions like this. http://forum.purseblog.com/coach-clubhouse/coach-rehab-and-rescue-club-833400.html

Pictures would help.

Personally I feel like mow I would rather make a trip to an outlet twice a yr and get an mff bag or two bc now the quality seems almost comparable

Exactly, I am starting to love the outlets and the quality is perfectly fine. Honestly, the bags I've gotten in the full price stores do not last any longer than the ones I purchased from the factory, whether it was Coach, Kate Spade, or Michael Kors. Besides, I'm tired of the prices in FP stores, especially now with the new products coming in from Vevers. Yes, they are nice and I like the design of the Swagger. However, I will not pay $495 for it.

I'm not a bag snob by any means, but the biggest problem I have experienced with Coach's quality has been with the Coach Factory outlet items. I own a few bags from the outlet stores and the quality is not even close to the full price crossbody I purchased from a Macy's 6 years ago. I just feel like a 6 year old bag shouldn't look newer than bags 2 years (or less) old.

In the future, I don't believe I'll purchase Coach Factory bags unless I find a style I can't live without. I think if you buy from a full price Coach store or a Macy's, Dillard's, Nordstrom, etc, the quality will be fine.

I think one has to keep perspective with it though, For instance a FP400$ bag is not comparable to a 400$ MFF one because rarely is the MFF actually sold for that typically they are at least 50% so basically your comparing a 200$ to a 400$ so i would expect some slight differences in quality..

The MFF bags are still decent and you can find deletes there if you hunt lol Most factory bags purchased at the classic 50% or more if you happen to grab a clearance style are quality for that pricing point. :smile1:

Of coarse there can be duds but that exists with FP and MFF.

As much as I've been disappointed in the quality of leather on many Coach bags I've seen recently, notably the classics I saw at the outlet (especially the black leather), I am very pleased with the leather and workmanship on my Bleecker mini duffle, made in 2014. There was a point when I thought I would never find a recent bag with the quality of the bags of the past. I'm happy I was wrong.

I stopped buying Coach Bags a few years ago when I kept going into the Boutique and never finding anything that looked like a good quality bag. I have several Coach bags but have not purchased any in the past few years. My son did buy me a "Willis" about two years ago, and it is very nice, but in comparison with my older bags, the leather is much thinner.

Having said that, and having looked at other so called "Designer" bags of comparable price, I notice that many are absolute garbage.

Coach, on the other hand, just might be improving!
