COACH Quality Issues

Sounds like leather is the way to go. I have just started buying Coach bags. I first bought a mia cvt. crossbody in leather and I love it. I went to the outlet Sunday and bought the same bag in jacquard fabric with the outline C's. I took it out today to put my things in it and the zipper has issues. I looked at it in bright light and the zipper is all wavy and keeps catching at a certain point unless it's forced. Now I have to make a trip back to the outlet and return it. I was thinking of exchanging for the same bag if they have one, but after reading this thread I think I better stick to buying only leather. The leather bag was only $20.00 more, for the slight difference in price it makes sense to buy the leather. I'm so disappointed because I really liked that bag!
I have experienced similar zipper issues as well.

Oh that would be so frustrating! I am glad you finally got a Flagship tote that was ok. I would be afraid to use it too :wondering I buy Coach because I love their styles and colors but I will say I love quality over quantity and would take a few less styles for the quality to come back. So sorry for your friend and her gathered Sophia. I really like that bag and have been on the fence of purchasing one but due to my recent run of luck I have held off. Thank you for telling me about your experience. Hopefully that will be the last of our bad luck.

Thanks! I totally agree with you! I hope your luck turns around too! Give the sophia a chance though as soon as you're able...i really love mine and havent had any issues with the gathers.

I absolutely agree that it is beyond aggravating when you purchase a product and not have it meet your expectations or the quality is less than par. With that being said; I can also say that Coach is extremely gracious in the measures it takes to make sure their customers are happy. So while it is frustrating when you are returning multiple items it is also nice to know that majority of the time COACH fixes the problem with a smile on their face. Noting that other Premier designers are not so generous and will give you a very hard time returning a bag in general and you only have 14 days to do so....

I have a Coach quality horror story myself! I instantly fell in love with the Coach Poppy Pushlock Satchel in Camelia (pink) when I saw it but behaved myself and waited until the 25% off sale. Then I was in there like lightning. I switched all my stuff right into it and carried it happily for about a week. Now, I baby my purses. I can use a purse off and on for 2 years and I could still say it's new and have someone believe me. So after a week, I noticed that my beautiful PINK bag was turning white on the bottom corners where the waxed leather was completely wearing off. Then, of course, this white was picking up dirt and suddenly my bag looked like I was tossing it on the floor of a public bus everyday (when I was, of course, escorting it around town on the passenger seat of my car). I was horrified! So I took it back to the FP Coach where I got it and the manager was very nice. She agreed that should not be happening. So she shipped it back to their "repair" center in Jacksonville, FL to be fixed free of charge. And the waiting game began...

About 3 weeks later I got a box from Coach in the mail. I was so excited to have my beautiful bag back. So I opened the box... and found it simply tossed inside with no protection along with a note. Before even reading the note, I saw that they had DONE NOTHING! No repair. The note informed me that nothing was wrong with it, it was normal wear. The leather rubbing off and turning dirt brown after 2 weeks of light carrying and never touching the ground is "normal wear"?!

So I called the Coach boutique and explained all of this to the manager, who was surprised, but couldn't really do anything else. After going on about how disappointed I was with Coach, she offered an exchange for another one, but in a different color as the pink had sold out. I didn't want another cheap bag that was just going to get ruined in 2 weeks again! I wanted a full refund. This, she couldn't do. I told her I would never buy from Coach again if this is how their quality and customer service is. If they wanted to screw me over and keep my $300+ and lose every penny that I would have spent in the future (and this would ahve been far more than $300, and had been thousands before this incident), then fine.

So the manager (who was very nice through all of this) told me that she would talk to the District Manager and then get back to me. She told me it might take a week because the DM was on vacation. I was pleasantly surprised when she called me back 3 days later. My one time refund was approved.

Of course, when I brought it in to return, the people in the store had no idea what was going on, and even though they found a note laying around about it, they still had to email and then call the boss to make sure that it was ok, which took FOREVER and was so stupid since they had a note about the situation! But in the end, I got my refund...

Still, I'm very careful about what I buy from Coach now. Their older items (Hampton, Soho, circa pre 2005) were so amazing and tought and durable. I sold a wallet from back then the other day that still looked brand new! And that's before I was so gentle with my purse goodies, that wallet got quite a workout and didn't even break a sweat!

I'll stick to the Coach outlet now... at least the cheap outlet prices match the cheap quality.

I've never had problems with anything I've bought from Coach or the Coach Outlet. I think some people just have bad luck. Bad batches do happen, unfortunately. I also think a lot of people are just ridiculously picky.

You may be lucky so far. However, you cannot call people being ridiculously picky when clearly there are defective Coach products out there.
