thank you so much for the extensive list of pros and cons!!!! i agree the LV print is kinda cold, i guess i just wanted to satisfy 13 yr old me's dreams but i think my personal style has changed and i like LV's history and how iconic they are, but i just dont believe in spending insane amounts for canvas.
i think i will end up going with the parker and maybe an LV SLG!
thank you
That's a great compromise! I just bought the LV rosalie and love it!

LV SLGs are pretty much invincible. :D My 2 Epi leather ones both look mint after sooooo much use!

Good choice!

I disagree that bag snobs look down on Coach but maybe I’m not a bag snob. Was shopping at Hermes and LV over the weekend and decided to wander into Coach. Ended up purchasing a lovely Rogue bag in Ivy color due to the leather quality and craftsmanship. The retail Coach bags will show their quality and even my husband can tell the difference.

Ironically, I've been dreaming of getting the quilted Parker since it first launched. You really need to ask yourself how you want to use the bag. I have several LV and a ridiculous amount of COACH. I very seldom use my LV, and when they are stored I do air them out so they can breathe. I have a bag that's from 1990 and it doesn't have any bad smells. Coach is a great brand for everyday use, but they are contemporary and don't keep styles long. So I would recommend getting the Coach you like possibly first. However, ask yourself how much you want to spend on a LV. I purchased a Neo in February and the next month the price jumped. LV tends to do a price increase more frequently and for more than Coach. Happy buying!

LV is so common nowadays, that I don't feel you need to be concerned for personal safety carrying it. Not to mention, a lot of the time people would assume it's fake, so just wear whatever you like! I own both contemporary and premier brands, Coach and LV included, and they're both great for different reasons. If you're talking about the canvas products, LV is relatively durable, but the suppleness of Coach leather (especially the glove-tanned for me) can rarely be beat. Probably down to what you'd use more in the immediate future!

I love both brands and own both. I use them differently as others state depending on my mood and occasion, work, dinner out with friends etc.
I was able to buy both with my bonus and very grateful that I had the extra funds to support my love for both brands.
Get what your heart desires so you don't have regrets later. Enjoy life with your bag choice don't over think it, go with what your heart wants.
Good luck!

LV Speedies will likely go up again in the future, so if it's a bag you'd like to definitely have someday in your collection, you might want to go before yet another price hike. I do love that Coach bags can be discreet workhorses, pretty much ready to use for almost every situation.

LV's monogram (while beautiful) is a more obvious display of wealth, if you're looking for something that blends in a bit more, the Damier Ebene is versatile, but I do think that there's something about the mono pattern that feels more elegant and feminine.

I have many of both brands. I have been buying Coach since the eighties when Coach leather was just delicious! In both brands I tend to buy the classics, although Coach has, in my opinion become more "dressy" rather than classic in the past few years. My LV's are the classic ones, I feel that they will never look dated. I think that may be a very big difference between a premier brand and a contemporary brand. An LV, just because of its value, is seen as a bag that has no season, whereas as other brands tend to bring out bags and then discontinue them after one or at most two seasons. Also LV has no outlets where you see the bag you paid full price for a few weeks ago is now half the price at an outlet. This matters to a lot of people. Of course LV is quite an investment, there are no "inexpensive" bags in their stores, but if it's something that you have been lusting after for years, and you feel that you just have to get it out of your system (lol), then it's worthwhile, because if you find that you really aren't in love with the bag, you can sell it, they really hold their value, and get your money back, quite possibly even more than you paid for it. But of all the contemporary brands, I do love Coach.

I started with coach first, then went to LV then went back to low end brands like kipling and now back to coach. i do enjoy having both. One to use for events and one to use as my everyday bag. I appreciate coach too and other brands like kate spade, mk, kipling etc because I call them stress free bags. I dont freak out when I bump them to something or spill on it. I belong to the middle class...so to them these are the only brands they know. They think that mk or coach are so expensive already enough and find spending a thousand dollar for a bag ridiculous. If i wore my LV bag to work they will just ignore it. My friends who knew the brand make comments that I am rich for owning LV. Its nice to own a bag that you dont have to baby much. In LV, you have to worry about the vachetta getting wet, the leather getting dry or even for loose stitches. It has a good resale value though and this is greatly considered if you are particular to this or if you plan to resell in the future. Even if it is so old you can still get some amount for it. I sold my barely used two hundred fifty dollar mk bag for sixty dollars when i was offered one hundred fifty for a battered looking LV bag, yup, thats a fact. I suggest researching on a particular style of LV bag you like before going to the store and buy one. You dont wanna be like me who bought a thousand dollar neverfull and regret it so much after i couldnt stand the constant babying and fussing over it much. I gave it to my mom and that settled it lol

I agreed with some of the comments here. I bought bags for different reasons; sometimes for their designs, sometimes following the trend, sometimes because of their quality and functionality, and most of the time, there are just wants. I have Coach, LV, Chanel, etc. I switched between bags so that I can enjoy them all. No right or wrong. If you have been dreaming for LV since 13, get LV first. Life is short to wait and the price increase is pretty annoying to us consumer.

Long-ish but honest story..

Although I don't have the exact two bags you mentioned in particular, I do own bags from both brands. My opinion would be to go for the Coach bag. When I was quite a bit younger, I thought of LV as a status icon. I ended up saving, and buying my first LV. Problem was, I didn't actually ~love~ the bag itself. I understood that people loved the classic pattern and the entire look, but I personally wasn't captured by the monogram pattern nor the style of the bag. What I was after was the status and worth of the bag (ah, teenage years). I kept justifying my purchase by reminding myself of it's resale value. and you know what? It has been over a decade since then, and I've used the bag maybe 2 or 3 times. I always handled the bag with delicate hands.... I admired it, and stored it. I barely used it because I was afraid of damaging it. I also learned along the way that I didn't like to stand out at all (so the status thing no longer meant anything to me). I'm a lurk-in-the-shadows type gal.

All that being said, I own many Coach bags. I love the feel of the leather and I love the designs. I have a customized rogue that I adore, and I use it all year around. Although I feel I must disclose that I'm not the stylish sort, and I don't keep up with trends- If I like the bag, I'm going to use it every day all day all year :P

Good luck with whichever you choose to get  If you sway towards LV, don't let my silliness hinder your decision

I also have both bags. I am in love with my Parker, I carry it both casual and formally and it served me well. I love this bag because I can carry it on my shoulder and crossbody, and it keeps my items organized. Plus it gets lots of attention and is affordable. It makes me smile every time I use it.

I have a speedy 25 that I also like, I got it because Audrey Hepburn used to carry a similar one. I carried it for a few months, but then I stopped using it. The reason why is because it’s too heavy and I get tired of having to fumble for my items. I could buy a purse organizer but they are pricey for a bag I won’t carry all the time.

So all-in-all, I prefer the Coach. But if you’re not planning on carrying the Parker everywhere, then maybe get the Speedy. Good luck!
