How about the pen marks she fought so aggressively, plus the glue and sloppy stitches that were neither shown nor mentioned? I agree the measurements were correct, but that was confusing since usually sellers and even Coach website in description of the modern version of the bag stick with measuring the strap drop which in this case is nearly the same. If strap length was the only issue, I wouldn't have fought it since as a seller of nearly 17 years myself I always think about their side of the story. As for authentication, I agree I rushed this time. My sister has always wanted this bag in light color, so I was preoccupied with the idea of getting a Christmas present for her just on time.

The seller does say "A great bag for all occasions with NO WEAR. The leather is beautiful. The registration number is 1402 300." Yes, I'd consider pen marks "wear and tear". But if i'd seen a strap like that I wouldn't have bought the bag in the first place so the issue of pen marks would be moot. Easier to NOT buy something with problems than to have to fight to get your money back after you get the item.

Anyway, let's leave this thread since we shouldn't be here in the first place.

Thanks again for your opinion, knowledge and finding the catalog photo for me, Hyacinth!

Cleaning
For the majority of bags, baby wipes or mild soap and water will do the trick. For most problems with stains, we will suggest one of these options, they usually work and the chance of ruining your bag is slim.
Suede can be tricky - you can always try the nail file trick and see if that works.

Coach does not offer a bag cleaning service.

Returns
excerpt from coach.com:
We will be glad to refund or exchange any new and unused merchandise. You may return your item(s) to either a Coach Full Price Store or ship your item(s) to our Returns department.
New, unused full price merchandise may be exchanged or returned at any Coach Store with an original Coach receipt or mail order packing invoice.

New, unused Factory merchandise may be returned for merchandise credit only in Full Price stores with an original Coach receipt or gift receipt.

Price adjustments on previous purchases are not permitted.

Preferred Customer Event (PCE)
This seems to be a random mailing to customers who have purchased in the boutique.
Sometimes there is a price minimum to get the coupon, sometimes not.
Outlet purchases, phone purchases, and coach.com purchases do not count towards the PCE.
The 25% coupon is good on whatever is in the store (no special ordering, etc).
PCE is usually every 3 months or so.

Outlets
Most of your questions can probably be answered in this thread:
http://forum.purseblog.com/coach/coa...ore-35517.html
For a list of Coach outlets, go to outletbound.com and search COACH.
Outlet purchases may be returned to a full-price store for store credit only.

Serial numbers
If you want to know the year your bag was made, check your serial number.
There will be two numbers in the first set, that’s the year (for example a06z - made in 2006).
Serial numbers vary.

Authenticating a Coach product
Please visit our Authenticate This! thread at the top of the Coach Shopping sub-Forum for specific questions (posting multiple pictures helps a lot, as well as posting eBay auctions, etc).
In general, signature pieces are easiest to determine authenticity, signature bags are always symmetrical and a mirror image of the other side. This is usually easy to spot, counterfeiters usually don't get this right.
Also, signature bags do not also have signature linings. And in all bags, there is a creed with a stamped serial number. No creed in a bag = FAKE.

Shoes
Usually the flats run about a ½ size big, everything else is about true to size.

Drill down
The drilldown is used as a verification of how a bag is supposed to look.
Most bags will show up on the DD and are as they look in final production, there are a few exceptions to this.
To use the drilldown, go to this site: http://www.coach.com/assets/product_images/drilldown1/10366_d1.jpg
Where you see the 10366, insert the last 4 digits of the serial number of the bag you are looking at.

Hi everyone,
I wasn't sure where to ask this question... but I think it could go here.

I was wondering when coach switched from the metal teeth zippers on the interior of bags to plastic (?). I collect soley vintage, so I usually stay far away from any bags that don't have metal zippers because I do not know when they started incorporating them. For example, I've seen the City Willis in both metal and plastic zippers. Not sure if it's just fake or it was around that time things started to change? Any info would be great. Thanks in advance!

There's no simple answer. Coach started using vinyl zippers on the inside as early as the late 1980s in their Lightweight line but for other lines the date can vary widely. The important thing is to authenticate the bag itself - if the bag is genuine, the zipper is ok. There are much more accurate ways to determine if a Coach is genuine than the inside zipper, and I've never bothered to even save that kind of information. Generally speaking, a Coach bag should have the same kind of inside zipper type as all the other Coach bags with the same exact style number and made in the same plant, month and year.

Two more important details about zippers - with no exceptions I can think of at the moment, Coach zipper pulls - the small metal pull-tab attached directly to the zipper mechanism - should not be stamped with Coach's name. And a zipper stamped "YKK" can never prove a Coach is genuine.

Ask about any bags you're not sure of in the Authenticate This Coach thread in the Shopping forum.

The city Willis wasn't introduced until 2000 and Coach was already using nylon zippers in many classic styles by then. Whether they used a metal or nylon zipper at that time depended on what they had on hand in the factory and whether it was the color they needed for the bag. I have a Rambler's Legacy made in 1999 that has a nylon zipper, and another made in 2000 that has a metal one. Both have nickel hardware and were made in the same plant, but the 1999 one is burgundy and the 2000 is black.

Has Dinky 24 been discontinued?

Poast your question at the main Coach forum or better yet look through the first and second pages of posts, the answer might already be there.

And PLEASE always read the first post in all Pinned or Stickied threads for specific instructions about what belongs and doesn't belong in that thread.

Thank you.
