It's true that the tea roses do not stand out on the black but the photo of the clutch version looks really pretty as well. Maybe it just depends on the lighting?

Looks like more of you prefer the black over the melon! Maybe I'll get the bag in black and the clutch in melon. One can dream!
Which one goes with more of your clothing? I think the melon is more feminine while the black is more edgy. You can't really tell what they look like without seeing them IRL, and in all kinds of lighting. Sometimes I'll love a bag when I see it on a shelf but once I take it down, the color looks different. Once I ordered a bag because I had seen it in the case at Macy's, but once I had it in my home, I hated it. The reverse happened too. I couldn't believe how different colors can look in different lighting.
Now I wonder if I should just order both and see which one looks better at home. The case lighting is always tricky. That happened to me once too at Balenciaga. It looked so awesome at the store and then I took it home and it was just meh.
I think you should consider what you have in your collection, versus not. I seem to recall you have a few totes, so perhaps the kisslock (I like the first one, the pink & brown one) will be something more unique...Rexy aside!
I like the black. Not fond of pink/melon and I think black is more versatile BUT....it has to be what makes your heart sing. If you are in love with the melon one that is the one for you as you will wear it and love it, and black might feel like you "settled" for practicality at the sake of love. That never works out in either romance, or bags!

I guess I'll have to pop over at a store and take a look. There's only one Coach store near where I live and it just get super crowded on the weekends. That's why it's so tempting to just order them online instead! Sigh.
You might want to call them before you head out to look at the bags. My nearest Coach store rarely has any of the 1941 bags in store. The nice thing about ordering from Coach online is that shipping and returns are free [emoji16]
BTW, black is more classic but the melon is very pretty so it's a tough choice!
I'm with you! Enough with the rivets (and other embellishments too) on everything. I would love a kisslock satchel, but not those that are being offered now. I don't want rivets or any graphics imprinted all over the bag.....and preferrable one solid color, or at least no more that two colors.

I have this clutch in chalk and love it. Note it doesn't hold a lot and only thin things, but I find it great for just running errands!
