I've only won the Coach markdown game once and that was with my Marvel Star Quilted Jes. Other times I either missed out on free shipping or missed out on an extra $10.00 off! This time I got free shipping so I'm going to be satisfied with that, hopefully!

What are lawsuit coupons?
There was a class action lawsuit in the US against Coach for deceptive practices. They were putting price tags on outlet merchandise with prices that they never sold those items at; then advertising big discounts so people were fooled into thinking they were getting a great deal. If you could produce receipts showing you shopped at an outlet during the class action period, you could select either a cash payment or coupons to be used on future outlet purchases, but you can only use them at a physical outlet. There are 15 vouchers; you can only use 2 in a single shopping trip. The biggest 2 are worth $20 each, the rest are worth $10, except the last one is worth $1.48. They have to be used within a year.

I bought the Marvel Jes the first time it was listed so I paid more than most people. I still think it was a good buy. I waited too long for the Cashin Carry 22 and was very lucky it came back so I could grab it, still at the earlier price.

Is it only for the US or do they give them out in Canada too?

I remember someone bought a Red Marvel Jes and I bought the same bag for $10 less last time. Not sure if that was you or someone else.

I'm sure the lawsuit was just US. There might be another one in Canada but I haven't heard of it.

I paid full price for my Snoopy mini duffle that was released in 2015 in boutiques. That one made it to the outlets, but I think it was only certain outlets. I paid full price for the Emery 21 that was on FOS for a very long time. But I got the Kaffe Fassett Marleigh half price and that never made it to the outlets. There aren't very many bags I've paid full price for. I don't mind as much buying the first time an item appears on FOS, even if it gets further discounted, because at least I got a decent price.

Me too! I'm always wrong. If you want to know what to do, just do the opposite of what I do.

I've already decided to get them now since I'm getting them in store with my lawsuit coupons. Even if it gets marked down later, I might miss out like I usually do and there probably won't be free shipping. At least I found something to use my coupons on, and I'll save $40 on two items. Even if I don't ever use the rest of the coupons, I did better than taking the cash payment.
Oh yea, I forgot about the coupons. That was a good deal.

I got the metal Snoopy charm and the Charlie Brown wallet. The wallet came down to $65.80 from $90. The charm was $43, down from $58.80. In person, I didn't like the blue of the leather items. The Snoopy charm looked nice IRL. The metal Woodstock doesn't look enough like Woodstock IMO unless you look closely. They didn't have the leather Woodstock but I came home and ordered it. I blame the SA for saying how cute it is even though they never got one in her store.

Hi there! Since you were discussing the vouchers (and I assume used some thus far?) I wanted to ask if you knew whether an exchange could be done with them, to preserve the value?
I happened to be by an outlet a couple weeks ago and grabbed a card case to give as a gift, using 2 of the $10 settlement vouchers toward it, but when I got it home I noticed it had more scratches on the leather than I'm willing to pass of as a "new" gift. Darn store lighting! I'd rather not be stuck with another card case just to use myself, so I was thinking of trying to exchange it - but don't want to lose the value of the $20 vouchers (it was $55 pre-voucher, $35 out of pocket).
The fine print doesn't mention anything about it but that probably doesn't mean anything! :hrmm:

I wondered about that myself. I would assume that if you did a straight across trade, i.e. got the exact same item, you wouldn't lose anything. I would be more concerned if you did a return. I bet they might give you a gift card for the full amount, including the voucher. I do know that years ago, I had a 40% off coupon that I lost when I returned but that makes sense since it was a percent off rather than a fixed amount. It didn't occur to me at the time to ask for a gift card. It was probably more money than I would have wanted tied up until I found something to spend it on.

Oh, that's a great idea, thank you! I will just take it with me when I go next time and ask what they can do in a return vs. exchange situation, and if a GC is an option. Will report back on what happens! I don't think an even exchange will be an option because this card case seems to be a retail item and was the only one I saw in store at the time, but I will be sure to check all the drawers for others, haha

Interestingly, they're still doing to same thing that got them into trouble in the first place with their pricing!

I can't remember exactly the lawsuit for the 40% off coupon but I know I spent it at a full priced store.

What they do now is the price tag says "comparable value" rather than MSRP. Macy's and other retailers do the same thing. I think even the boutique price tags now say comparable value. I believe that gets around the law, which would require them to actually sell some for the MSRP in order to discount them. There were similar lawsuits many years ago against retailers who always had things on sale. They were required to keep things at full price for a certain percentage of the time in order to claim they were on sale.

I'm not gung ho on any of the items, but I'll be near an outlet next Monday and I need to check out their deletes. I forgot about the coupons. I want to at least get a few of them used. Hope woodstock turns out cute for you!

My outlet had very few deletes. They weren't even out on the floor. The SA brought out a box. They were mostly really tiny bags.
