Coach at Target stores?

I don't know if this is true or not. I found this on another message board. This person says they emailed Coach about the situation and this is the response they received:

"I wrote to Coach and received this response:

Thanks for your inquiry about Coach merchandise. Target began carrying some Coach merchandise as part of a new program called The Find, which set in stores on August 27.

The Find offers previously unavailable, upscale, branded merchandise on main aisle endcaps and front row racks. The exact assortment varies by store, but brands planned for the launch include: Coach and Dooney & Bourke handbags, Tommy Hilfiger short sleeve shirts, Samsonite luggage, Cuisinart kitchen appliances, Go Smile whitening, Joe's Jeans and Antik Denim. The Find merchandise is all 100 percent authentic and The Find program will have limited replenishment."

I am not sure if I believe this because it seems to me that Target would have made a big deal about this. Doesn't it seem like there would be a public "launch" of something like this? Seems like this would be huge deal for Target and they'd want consumers to know!
:confused1:

^^Exactly - that's what I am thinking. Like I said, I don't know how much truth there is to what I posted above. But, if "The Find" really does exist, that puts a third party in the mix and, of course, adds to the possibility of counterfeits being bought and sold.

I was actually thinking about this last night. I don't think i would ever buy a Coach bag at Target just because it would be super easy for someone to return a fake bag there. The cashiers and managers at Target are not trained to spot a fake. It would be easy for a not-so-honest person to buy a real bag & return a fake. Not willing to take that chance at all!

Hm... While I guess this could be true, it seems a little iffy.

"the Find" is actually a brand that can be found on HSN... the lady that "designs' them is very odd and has a terrible Wisconsin accent. I wonder if there's any relation... or if it's just coincidence.

The whole Target/Coach thing is very odd. Everyone knows taht coach has been trying to make themselves more competition to the higher end designers in the past few years.

why would they set themselves back by selling to target? I mean, i love target and all, but I go there for cheap basics and household stuff.

I really don't think that COACH agreed to have their bags sold at Target.

If so, why would Target be selling fake COACH bags and COACH be suing them right after they just agreed on selling authentic COACH products there.

Also, like a lot of you ladies said, COACH prices are currently going up-not down (as they eventually would if COACH would be sold at Target).

I am also sure that COACH has thoroughly checked if the bag sold at Target was a fake since COACH suing target is a really big, expensive, public deal.

Also, as Pursefanatic argued, why on earth would Target not announce that they are selling COACH now? I mean, that would have guaranteed them such a big profit- it just doesn't make sense.

So all in all I believe that Target, in this context, is acting very suspiciously. I'm so curious about what the outcome of this lawsuit will be!

I do not believe that a COACH rep would respond writing about all of these other brands included in "The Find" as though they are advertising "The Find".Especially here:

I mean-are you kidding me?As if they would write about cuisinart kitchen appliances, go smile whitening, joe's jeans etc in an email reposne about a COACH inquiry!
They might write that COACH as well as other authentic brands bla bla.

But this response does not seem adequate at all to me- or COACH needs to fire this employee.

There is an article in the Wall Street Journal. Since they don't allow you to reprint their articles, I thought I would give you a piece of information that I don't think this thread addresses.

Coach Inc. is accusing the big-box retailer of crossing the line by marketing a fake Coach bag.

Coach alleged that Target was a counterfeiter by selling a Coach-style purse, complete with a hang tag that says "Coach," according to Coach Chief Financial Officer Mike Devine. The allegedly fake bag has Coach's signature C-pattern and a touch of snakeskin-like fabric in the center of the bag, according to a photo of it included in the lawsuit. The bag, purchased from a Target store in Largo, Fla., is an "exact replica of a genuine Coach handbag" bearing at least one Coach trademark, the suit says.

Target, which isn't a licensed distributor of Coach products, said the bag in question is an authentic version and therefore the suit is without merit.

^^Like I said, I found this on another board. I don't know the person who posted it and I am not going to speculate as to whether or not it's factual. Seemingly, every source of information is saying something different - even "trustworthy" news sources.

Agree...can't imagine coach would refer to the other brands....now if she said this was what she got from TARGET...that would be different....

Yeah I was pretty dissapointed when I heard they were selling at target. I hope Coach gains back some of its integrity after this. Its a shame with such a turn around of this company to be pulled back into the muck by target of all stores.
