I have owned bags of both time periods and there is no difference in quality to me. The leather on the first bag looks a little dry to me, so I think I'd prefer the 2nd (newer) bag, though it does have some deflating on the back. What I suggest you do before making a decision, is ask for pictures of the inner pockets of both bags. Due to age and depending on humidity and how the bag was stored, the leather in those pockets is often peeled/flaky, sometimes completely gone.

Would you please advise me of your opinion on this bag. I am on a quest for one of these and really want to buy the best bag possible as it is a lot of money. I am not in any rush and am happy to wait on the right bag to come along. Following your last reply to me I have realised there are many factors to take into consideration. Though some pictures are still lacking, this bag looks fine to me. No red flags seen.

History of the bag: I purchased the bag on eBay from a seller who purchased it from the Beverly Hills Rodeo Drive boutique on 08/03/17.
Comments: Seller has been an eBay member since 2002 with 100% positive feedback. eBay listing previously said the bag is “guaranteed authentic.” Bag comes with original box, dust bag, leather care card and authenticity card.
