I read so many baseless rumors about facts regarding Michael Kors and how to tell if they are authentic or not. I am starting this thread to clarify and put these rumors to rest!

1. One of the biggest false rumors is that Michael Kors bags will never have the signature on both the outside and inside. FALSE! This so incorrect! They have MANY bags with signature on both sides.

2. Another false rumor is that Michael Kors never uses contrast stitching! We see contrast stitching on Several MK designs, especially on the Astor bags. While it is true you don't see it on the newer Saffiano bags, you will see it on many of their regular leather bags. Designer bags are known and loved for their detailed contrast stitching, and most designers do this,

3. Another rumor is Michael Kors is NOT MADE IN CHINA??? False! MOST of their bags are made in China!

4. Michael Kors is never faked because they are too cheap and are not considered a luxury item. FALSE!! We see more fakes than you can shake a stick at and most of them are on the cheaper bags! Counterfeitors go by what is most popular. They do not go by what costs the most. Even Levis jeans are being counterfeited!
Also, Michael Kors is a luxury designer and has MANY bags in the 3 zeros pricing, ranging from 1000 to 3000.00!! Most of them come from the MICHAEL Kors Collection. The less expensive bags are in their MICHAEL Michael Kors collection, and these bags are counterfeited the most!

5. Michael Kors will ALWAYS have a made in country tag on them separate from the heat stamp. FALSE. While MOST of them do, there are bags that are lined in leather, that do not have this tag and the country made in, will be include on the heat stamp. Or it will be a separate leather heat stamp tag, as seen on the Miranda.

I second that. and all that extra mk tissue and wrapping is pretty hard to dispose of when you have a handbag addiction you are trying to cover up for, ;)

I'm not making any sense of this? You are now saying that the handles and zippers are all wrapped in tissue? But the whole bag itself, is placed in a plastic bag. That is completely different. We have been seeing them where the handles and zippers are wrapped in plastic too, not tissue, is what we are saying and what missphillipine is referring to. It used to be that the handles and zippers were wrapped in tissue only. Now they are wrapping the handles and zippers in plastic. Putting the whole bag is a plastic bag completely different. So basically the bag you got from Macy's came with the zippers and handles wrapped in tissue, not plastic. Know what I mean?? Which is what we are referring to.

Ok, this has been bugging me FOREVER! Please don't link to any of the MK bags on Pinterest! I cannot believe how many fake bags they pin there and then tell you to go to the link to purchase! I could spend 24 hours a day just commenting "fake" on peoples pins:rtr:

Both my Hamilton from Macy's & my Dillon from Michael Kors had the handles wrapped in a type of tissue; the pull tabs as well. The whole bag was packed in a plastic bag with MK logo on it.

Yes, so basically the bags from Macy's and department stores, are still coming wrapped in tissue, not in plastic. One of the previous posters was stating her bag from Macy's came wrapped in plastic. We are not referring to the whole bag itself. We are referring to the handles and hardware coming wrapped in plastic from the website orders. So it is apparent they are still wrapping the handles and hardware in tissue from the department stores, and only the website orders have the handles and hardware wrapped in plastic, but here again, we're giving out too much information! OH NO!! lol!

Goog point! Pinterest is part of facebook. There are also many fakes appearing for sale on facebook. Beware of purchasing designer bags from facebook!

It's trying to weed them out is the problem. Most of the fakes sellers go there because they are always getting kicked off of ebay and other sites. Plus what kind of protection does facebook give a buyer?? Is there any way to file a claim or do a return?? I would feel very unprotected buying off of facebook, but that's just me.

People advertise in group and use PayPal for payment and you have protection via PayPal.

Yes, if they allow PayPal payments that helps. You will still need to prove it is fake however and that is the hard part. They make you pay a professional authenticating company which can cost you anywhere between 20 to 55 dollars. Then you have to fax the letter to them.. Buying off of a site like ebay or Bonanzle that have added protection are just more appealing to me. I have just never tried it before and since I am an authenticator here, I have seen several scams being pulled on facebook. We saved one lady inparticular from getting scammed big time. We told her to get pics of the paperwork and care cards and the seller just stole one that is seen on the internet in a google search. Was pretty bad! This was a really bad scammer! And how easy would it be for a seller to just disappear off of the group? Just seems pretty scary to me. .

I just ordered from the MK website last week and my bag had the handles and hardware wrapped in tissue. I don't think it really matters where you get your bag from. I've made 6 purchases in the last 2ish months from various places and it is split down the middle with tissue vs. plastic wrapping.
