Welcome to the addiction. It is basically a 3 Step Program.
!. You agonize over which first bag to buy.
2. You fall in love with first bag, and realize you need another.
3. You buy second bag, feel better, realize you need another.

Although it makes no difference in the progression of the the Steps, poll after poll end up with the City as a first choice.... HTH!

Conni618,

You are too funny! And thank you for welcoming me to the addiction. You seem to know me as well as I know myself. Goldilocks will eventually need all three sizes.... City, Work and Twiggy. But the first one will have to hold me for a while.

Have you considered the Part Time?:graucho: Perfect mix between the two and once broken in, has the best slouch of em all!

Brunettetiger,

I don't know about the Part Time because I didn't investigate that one. But you look awesome wearing it. It is a really pretty bag. In my research about the Bbags I am finding that many girls own the City and Work. So I assumed that they are the most popular. I have been going onto the Balenciaga website to check out the dimensions of each bag. I am having trouble finding the dimensions of the Part Time. You say it is between the City and Work? And it still has a shoulder strap.

PT & Twiggy - people either love em or hate em, so not as popular as City and Work. Not as easy to find either. Both have a distinct east/west shape - but completely transform once broken in.

The PT fits over the shoulder and has a shoulder strap.

I would second brunettetiger's recommendation to look into the PT....I have several Cities, several WEs, twiggys and have had only one Work. For ease of use and wear, I have found the shoulder strap to be indispensable, which leaves the Work out for me. That said, I have only had a 2005 Work and those handles are shorter than the newer Work bags, so take my experience with a grain of salt - also although I could fit that Work over my shoulders, it was a little tighter than I like (and I am not a big person). I recently got two 08 Part Times and think they are a PERFECT balance of size, style and convenience! I wish I had turned on to them sooner. My PTs are broken in already, slouchy and not really all that East-West looking. You should definitely look into them!!!

:roflmfao: So funny and frightening true

I would start with a city in black...

then a part time with giant hardware in a color you love... then maybe a twiggy in a bright color... then a work in a neutral... a coin purse might be nice too... :graucho:

I say start with a City. If you find it's smaller than you'd like you can move up to the part-time or the Work.

If you can't get somewhere to try them, maybe buy from someplace with a good return policy, just in case.

I have the same dilemma. There really is just no good style for me because I need a VERY ROOMY bag and I need a shoulder strap. The only option that has worked for me satisfactorily is to take the strap off of my part time and put it on a Work (I attach the strap to the handle hardware on opposite sides). The problem is that you have to have a part time strap color that matches your Work ... and that can be a very expensive venture! It happens I have a Blue India Part Time and Work, so that's how I was able to do it.

I just simply don't like the part time very much because it just hangs awkwardly from the shoulder strap unless I barely have anything in it (thus defeating the purpose of getting a PT).

The only other style that has worked well for me is the Day. But I prefer the "classic" look of the city/part time/work styles.

ETA: I just had an idea. I broke out my Vert D'eau Part Time a few days ago and so my irritation with the part time is fresh in my mind. I just realized that perhaps I should try attaching the part time strap the way I did on the Work. It actually hangs much better that way ... so I'm going to try that for a few days and see if the Part Time will actually be feasible for me once again. I know a lot of people won't like this because it makes the bag hang a little lopsided, but to me it looks much more aesthetically pleasing like that than it does when all the contents have slid to the middle of the bag and it completely collapses, bulges oddly, and ruins "classic" styling of the bag. In fact I know that lots of people who get a part time end up ditching the strap because they don't like the way it hangs.

P.S. you'll notice that you'll be very hard-pressed to find any photos of a part time hanging from the shoulder strap on this forum...and if you do see one, you can almost bet that it has either nothing in it, or only a very few items in it.** That's because it simply doesn't look good hanging from the strap ... there, I said it. May be a controversial statement but I think it's true. ;) It completely obscures the beauty of the moto design.

**or another option could be that it's stuffed to the gills so that it can't "slouch."
