Oh! You will be fine then. Neimans is great with that. I've done it before with Yurman at NM and had no issues. We would have never purchased at the boutique if we knew they were different!

So, I am feeling comfortable trading my DY pieces for a tennis bracelet. The local jeweler suggested a 4.5 carat one for everyday wear. I tried on a 6 carat and it was just too much. I am a very low key jewelry person.

So, if you girls don't mind, could you share so I know whether I am getting a good deal or paying altogether too much on a markup. He said the 4.5 carat would be $6,500. I don't know specs at all. I guess I just want to know how y'all feel about mom and pop jewelry stores vs. online. I am sure I am paying to keep their doors open, and I don't mind, to a point. Any suggestions for alternatives or a feel for whether this is in line with a good price?

I loved the way the 6 carat looked on the wrist with my watch. I wear a non-diamond Rolex and this added a good sparkle : ) I am excited.

my mom's tennis bracelet is either 4.5 or 5 carats set in white gold and she paid a bit over $1000 per carat and that was last christmas when our local jewelry store (very reputable and sells a lot of designer items) had a special 10% off diamonds. i've seen good prices for tennis bracelets online, but a lot of people prefer to see before they buy diamonds. sam's club has good prices for diamond tennis bracelets- for something the same size as my mom's, at sam's it would be like $1000 less or maybe even more.

I just received a tennis bracelet for Christmas! From myself :)

I suggest you check the specs first (colour, carat size of each stone etc) and compare to the ones on Bluenile. Their prices are very competitive. Then you'll know if your jeweller is charging too much.

I recently received a tennis bracelet too. I think it's pretty important to know the specs (color, clarity, size of each stone, metal) in order to consider whether you're getting a good deal. Whiteflash and Bluenile prices were the benchmarks I set for myself (i.e. is the jeweller charging similar or a little above these online prices). I started off looking at ready-made ones in jewellery stores, but these were too expensive for my budget and there was always something "not right" (e.g. too big, too small, the bracelet was too rigid, or the bracelet "flipped over" when hanging over my arm). Eventually I started considering getting one custom-made as the prices I was quoted for custom-made were much cheaper. I ended up getting the exact thing I wanted, and the process was very fast and easy. If you're interested, they ordered the bracelet, the stones and I went in once to look at the bracelet, adjust the length, and look at the loose stones. Then I just went in one more time to pick it up a week later.

Anyway, in my experience, jeweller prices are always going to be higher than online prices. But I didn't go with online in the end because the extra money paid went into supporting a local business, free lifetime cleaning, polishing and checking the setting, and a warranty (i'd hate for the settings to come loose or the bracelet to break if I bought online).

I agree with the tennis bracelet over these DY pieces (although they are very pretty). I returned a pair of Roberto Coin earrings to Neiman Marcus with no problems, and was told at NM that returning a DY ring I was looking at would be no problem either.

Def tennis bracelet. Even though DY has lovely pieces, this collection seems a bit overpriced. I feel that in the long run the tennis bracelet will be a much better investment and IMO you would get more use out of it.

Either way, you will end up with something lovely! Great dilemma to have! :D
