Chopard, more tasteful and rare like the above comment.
Rolex = Tacky.

If people really want to "show" go for a Glashutte or a super exclusive high-end watch. Rolex is so old school anymore and you know how many company give a Rolex as a reward to their old employee or old employee retiring from the company? Too "un" exclusive anymore.

Personally, I don't agree that Rolex automatically equals tacky at all. I think any brand watch can look tacky or overdone depending on the style. Rolex in my opinion is timeless and classic and a very tasteful watch.

Rolex has come a long way in improving the look and even the quality of the product in the past years.. Bracelets are made sturdier (about 33 percent heavier) with more "stylish" buckles, and are avaibable with several new dials/ marker combos. In fact, I had no interest in a Rolex at all until about four years ago- after being educated about the company and product I was sold. They still have the traditional "old school" classic styles, as well as some new bracelet/ metal/ dial combos that definietly are not something you would think of as "retirement" gift.

Their website totally rocks if anyone want to check it out. I love their video's, especially the 'ever-rose' gold one.

Choppard is beautiful too. Although I would consider them more of a "museum" watch- ie. not for wear during all activities.
