I am very glad to have found this Au Fil De La Soie 140 Mousseline. The colors and the details are amazing! Does anyone know when this design was issued and any idea what the colors are?

This is absolutely stunning! By far my favorite colorway I've seen in this pattern-- what a beautiful find. I couldn't agree more with all the comments about the level of detail and care put into the patterns of the older mousselines, and this is such a lovely demonstration of those qualities.

Thank you  . You have a wonderful collection and an inspiration. I have always admire your mod pictures and helpful guide. I was just researching your write up a few days ago on how to even attempt to wash the mousseline.

You're too kind yodaling! :hugs: Hopefully it won't need a clean for awhile! But I hope all our laundering tales here are helpful! It is a LOT of silk to wash and iron. I spilled some soup on my changeant Parures de Sables :cray: and *had* to clean it because it was tomato based and a spot clean wasn't going to cut it. Now I can't recall who said to keep a spritzer bottle of water on the ready (@scarf1 ??? @etoile de mer ???) but that was a lifesaver during the ironing process. I think I spent about half the ironing time spritzing that thing (and nearly as much time swearing)! (But it looks great again now....) :)

Sorry, off-topic, but I “hear” @bunnycat swearing: “gosh-darn! Fouey furballs!”

Thank you for this lead! :hbeat:I did not know there is a scarf booklet thread. This is soooo helpful. Thank you for providing me with the link. I will continue to read and see if I find any information on this mousseline.

Hi yodaling, yay, glad to hear! I hope the thread is helpful, it's a great resource! I've found that mousselines (like some of the other formats) weren't always as fully documented in the booklets, which can make it a bit challenging to find info. Let us know what you discover! :flowers:

Hi bunnycat, that was me! You and I were chatting about the joys  of washing and ironing, here on this thread. So glad your changeant survived unscathed!

Absolutely GORGEOUS! I have a few vintage moussies and they are so different from the current ones...much more saturated colors! Congrats!!!

There are a few tiny spots on this Au Fil De La Soie that I am thinking of doing spot cleaning so I will try when I find the courage. A quick question for you. If I mess up on ironing, can I just sprit some water on it, re-iron it and the fabric will smooth out? Wonder if hair dryer will work for the spot cleaning?

You are absolutely right it is challenging. I have not had any luck. I am hoping maybe someone who bought this design/format when it first came out can tell me eventually. In the meantime, I will continue to browse that link you have sent. I have read looked at a few pages so far and will continue the effort.

I could not agree more and the fabric quality feels so much better too for the vintage ones.

Yes- it should (mostly). Once wet and ironed it may not have *exactly* the same smoothness as originally, but it should be very close, and way better than not ironing at all. If you spot clean, pat it dry really quickly and have the iron on low ready to go. The biggest issue is with water spots forming when you do this as the wet area meets with the dry area and forms a ring. If I spot clean, I pat it dry as fast as I can and blow on it a little. Sometimes that is enough. If you have to actually get that area where the spot is wet, I'd keep the spritzer handy and the iron ready to go on low and once you've spot cleaned, mist the entire area lightly from about 12-18" away and iron. Ie- I don't spray the area to saturation. If you've ever cleaned water spots from leather, I've found silk works on a similar principle. You are trying to equalize a light dampness all over to get it to all dry evenly rather than actually squirt directly at it. Does this make sense?

Worst case scenario is you have water spots and have to mist again and iron again or rinse the whole thing and start again....

Hi yodaling, I'm not sure if you've seen the two posts I've linked below, from earlier in this thread. Not your colorway, but at least it gives you a better idea of when the 140 mousseline in this design was released.

Also, I assume you know about the scarf ID thread, but in case not

Good luck with your search! :flowers:

I would like to share my first Hermes mousseline! It is "La Musique Des Spheres" in that wonderful red/orange changeant. I have tried to capture it in my photos but I was so excited when it arrived that the pictures were taken in the kitchen.... It's a tough scarf to try to photograph so these aren't the best photos but none of the colors have been altered, the scarf really is this bright and vibrant! I was surprised how lovely it really was. I did not purchase for the imagery flat rather the colors and the notion of how it would wear, and it doesn't disappoint. I think I'm now in love with how light and airy the mousselines are!

I left my photobombing kitty in because why not, he's adorable and he's already dressed for the night in his tux!
