Ah those elusive mousselines. But this one did finally land in my tansu after several years.

How utterly gorgeous! It's so soft and ethereal; simply the perfect summer shawl.

I am just wondering: Are mousselines harder to find than other scarfs/shawls? And if so, why? I know that only a limited number of designs gets issued every season as mousselines but are they also produced in smaller numbers? Or are they just harder to find on the reseller market if you have missed out on them because they are so delicate and therefore easily damaged?

Only a l8mited number of designs are produced. Recently only in SS collections. Also they do not seem to be made in vast numbers, and boutiques may only have a few available. Not sure if that is because of the cost, so customers are fewer, or ?. The SA at the Waikiki store told me that her SM always orders at least one of every design and color, but they don’t always receive all. They are not always on display. Also, h.com never has all the choices. I have bought many of mine while traveling.

They are actually fairly hardy. The threads needed to weave chiffon are spun tightly. So it is light, but stronger than it looks.

Agree, Mousselines are easier to wear than twills imo.

yeah- for me at least, this is true. I seem to gravitate to the extremes of the spectrum. Pocket squares are super easy to wear, and moussies are super easy to wear.

I'd give up most of my remaining twills for the HG mousselines missing in my collection.

So close to being right there with ya werner! Except for things that haven't been issued in mousse, I'd stick to mostly mousse!

You're welcome! Strangely enough, the more I get tangled up with scarves the more I start revisiting my old days of weaving/spinning/dying and fabric construction. After over 5 years of not using my floor loom, I'm feeling the urge to do some experimenting to try to understand the nature of "changeant".

Hello my fellow moussie lovers!

I'm sidling up to the scarf confessional here again....

Moussies are my favorite format. And of those, I am particularly obsessed with changeants, which seem to be having a bit of an unspoken rest at the moment.
(I mean Jardin Anglais is an awesome scarf already, but can you imagine if some of them had been changeant????) :faint:

Anyway....I had some extra spending money after the holidays (yay- holidays?!? You make me over spend so much!) And despite having got not just one but 2 scarves under the tree and one of those a grail, I knew it had to be a scarf and so I wanted something special, and took my time deciding. Of course, my mind always drifts to changeant chiffon...so it took took weeks of searching but I finally found a new one for my little collection. :yahoo:

I'm so pleased to present Quadrige mousseline stole, in bleu gris/ardoise/mauve
which was colorway 08 from 2013. I gave it it's own little glamor shoot :giggle: to try and show the soft changeant effect of the greyish tone to lavender but this one is a lot more subtle than my La Rosee.

I haven't had a stole moussie before, and so now of course I am head over heels in love with the length, weight and ease of wear.

I like the dark blue horsey....

'scuse the up close mod shot! It picked up the greyish to lavender change best....

Congrats! Oh oh didn’t realize there were changeant moussies in stole. My first moussies were bought in 2015.
Is the weight or texture different between the changeants and the normal moussies?
