Aren't the Chicago SAs wonderful ?Hello my fellow moussies, I was out of town over the weekend and ended up stuck in the hospital, which is not a fun combo, but it is the best excuse in the world for going to the H boutique and leafing through the mousse selection! This is Festival des Amazones in the fuchsia colorway. I went into the boutique looking for the gorgeous yellow and green one posted upthread, but it wasn't available. Instead I ended up tossing this one on, and it instantly made me glow. I really agonized over whether or not to get it, however, because I don't think the pattern comes out as beautifully in this one as it does in some of the lighter colorways. The Chicago store SAs who helped me were all so nice, putting up with my asking them to hold the shawl for two days, during which time I came back to try it on four times! I finally did decide to get it, but I think after testing it at home with my wardrobe, I'm still just not in love with the pattern, so it's not a keeper for me. But I'm posting these very quick shots for reference, since the colors really are lovely: fuchsia, rouge, dark green, and blurple. The store manager thought it was a changeant, and although it's not one of the more obvious ones, I think she's right; I can see the depth of color and sheen in this piece that tend to characterize changeants.
While I was dithering over this one, I also tried on one of the most beautiful and unusual mousselines I've ever encountered. It makes me so sad that it doesn't look great on me-- if it did, I'd probably still be running down the street waving it over my head and whooping for joy instead of posting here on TPF. This special mousse was a Casaques in shades of hot pink, rose, and Hermes orange with a brown border. But what made it really mesmerizing was a changeant effect that made it look like gold waves were dancing across the surface of the silk. I mean, it was GORGEOUS. If you see it in a drawer, play with it! Even if it doesn't work on you, it's really something to get to see. And if anyone does get this one, please share pics!
Wish I'd been there to see you dither --
Thank you for the lovely pictures
I'm not sure I've ever met a mousseline I didn't love
But understand - if you are unsure it's probably not right
Sigh..
But still delicious ...
