Same here.
And from the unboxing my friends and I saw in store (VIP room can only accommodate one group at a time so many people are still unboxing on second floor as usual) at different times during those two days, bags were offered but nothing very special...
There are still beautiful bags being offered, but I was expecting more special things sent to the store like picnic, more dolls, etc...

I saw someone with a very beautiful b25 touch take home a Picotin. By all means I love the picotin but this would not be something I expect to take home from the opening event when they had hyped it up so much?
What were you offered/what did you take? Not everyone thinks picnic/dolls are special and maybe offerings were tailored to individuals? Who knows maybe they have the big guns in the back lol

Yes, I saw someone looking at a Benton Pico. I am thinking all of us can just get one. I wonder if they were spending towards quota to then be offered something else. I just can not see that to be a special bag to anyone who had an appointment on the first or second day

Exactly my thought. There are maybe at max 10-15 appointments total per SA on the first two days, and I expected everyone would be able to take home something that's normally more hard to get. At least everyone I knew that had an appointment was expecting a quota bag and even a constance would be a disappointment at that point. I know these are still beautiful bags, but the impression I got was everyone was pretty hyped for the grand opening and expected so.

I also knew a couple SAs were telling clients to hold off getting a quota until the opening...

Well said. I was dreaming BIG but was open to options. My hubby took a day off to go with me! I am hoping more to come? Holidays are upon us

I took home my SO which is my bag even if there's no special occasion, and it's arrived for a while. I also saw someone unboxing their SO in store as well.

I don't think it's the Chicago's store's fault for this, because it really looks like the SAs felt sorry about this as well. I was just a little surprised that with a grand opening, they did not get more stock to accommodate. Also, when I went, none of the RTWs I was interested still had my sizes either lol.

Yeah hopefully people who came but did not get a quota will get something for the holiday season.

I am just interested to know if this is common this time around (getting invited to the first two days and not getting a quota).
I saw someone getting a kelly 28 in black togo leather with gold hardware. Again, it is a beautiful bag, not trying to diminish that. But it's not something that the store cannot normally get and I'd imagine for long term clients it's not that special...

I see. Now I understand your disappointment. I guess it would be especially frustrating for people who don't live locally who flew in for the occasion. Maybe there will be more stock for the holiday season? Congrats on the SO, hope you like how it turned out!

Thanks! I actually feel ok, and I loved how the SO turned out and I appreciated the opportunity to enjoy the store before it reopened to the public. I know of friends who did not get anything and they were not taking home their SOs either, so I'm more just curious about the situation than disappointed.

I do believe there are plenty who flew here (I know many people who built relationships in Chicago and moved elsewhere but maintained the relationship) for the event, so if there's nothing to take home then... Chicago is not the best place to visit at the end of October LOL

I asked my SA prior to the appointment to see if they were going to have a Chicago special item for the opening. She said leadership didn’t mentioned anything. I agree about the QB inventory. It wasn’t as others experienced in California or NY reopening. Kind of surprised but happy to be back at the original location. I might be wrong but I was under the impression that they are still building up their inventory. Prior to Covid SAs will get like 4 QBs per month. Then prior to riots when they reopened, 2021, was maybe 1 QB.

Same! I was trying so hard to make it work! There were two gorgeous leather pieces but no sizes. No sizes for shoes either

The cocktail party was nice and busy. The SAs genuinely seemed to be enjoying the time and appreciating the chic new store.
Then we were shuttled to the Hermes in the Making event at Union Station (about 10-15 minute ride from the store). There were hors d'oevres but I didnt seem any desserts ( I am always looking for the dessert) There was an bar and lots of champagne but I am not a drinker so... Here are a couple pictures from the night- Agnes a craftsperson from NYC taught us how to make the saddle stitch but my version was so bad, she had to finish it off for me. Then there was a scarf expo and they explained the process. A couple of pictures from the store of HAC desordre and Kelly depeches in croc!! The last picture was from a panel discussion Friday with one the Hermes Family members and one of the craftsman from San Francisco. I am terrible with pictures wished I had taken more but wanted to share a few. And I agree there were no shoes in 35...my SA didn't even look bc she knew and we didn't want to waste the appointment time since they were scheduled tightly.
