You are absolutely right! Nice research you have made too!![]()
Thanks! It was fun to do, but makes it harder to buy something here in the U.S. I keep thinking I should just wait until I go to Europe again.![]()
Hi all gorgeous ladies!
Does anyone know price in Denmark / Sweden or UK?
I want to have Neverfull MM, but since the price increases I am kinda strugling. On the one hand I could buy Phillip Lim Medium Pashli in taupe/black and save around 200 euros. But I have been wanting LV for so loong, so can you suggest me what should I do?![]()
Cuz I do not know, maybe it is a good idea to buy LV first, since I guess the prices will just go up anyway? What would you do in my position?
Depends on the tax return rate, usually Europe is the cheapest. Some countries if you a big purchase on one transaction you can get more tax return. Usually I would say it is 12% if you use credit card to get the tax back, cash will be less than that.
Hi - Just wondering if someone could help me out with some math. If the neverfull MM is $1260 (I can get it tax free in the US) and 710 Euros, the google currently converter says it's only $761.87 US dollars. Is this real life? haha. How does the VAT tax play into it?
My friend will be in Ireland and with a 23 percent VAT Tax the bag comes to 873.3 Euros. This is still about $323 less w/o the refund, I think!
TIA!
Right now is a fantastic time to be buying LV (or any European luxury brand) in Europe due to the strength of the American dollar. It's so much less expensive now than it was even a year ago due to the exchange rate. I went to France last summer and thought the exchange rate was good then, it's even better now.
You can get a partial VAT tax refund at the airport once your friend leaves Ireland if she's leaving from Dublin, Shannon or Cork airports. (The refund rate seems to be about 15% in Ireland). That means you might get back an additional 106 Euros so your net cost would be about 767 Euros or $826, though that doesn't take into consideration the processing fee that is generally charged by whichever company processes the refund.
LV is used to dealing with tourists and VAT tax refunds so they should be able to instruct her at the boutique and give her the proper forms. Btw, they'll ask if she wants to do the transaction in dollars or Euros, so choose Euros. That way they can't add on extra foreign currency exchange fees. I'm assuming she has a credit card that charges zero foreign currency transaction fees. If she doesn't have one, she should get one asap. She should bring her passport to LV as they will need her passport number to process the form. Here is a handy little guide to the VAT tax refund in Ireland and how its done:

To be honest, once you've done it, it's easy. The first time is a bit of work and effort to make sure you've done it correctly. A couple of my refunds I got within 5 days. Another refund took weeks, and another weeks more. I thought that one was lost forever but the credit did eventually show up on my credit card. If your friend does this for you, you'll owe her lunch.![]()
Thank you! This is amazingly helpful and I really appreciate the response. So is the VAT included in the price? When I look online eu.louisvuitton.com doesn't have prices listed. I was actually look at pounds in my earlier comment (yep, bad at math on all levels, haha).
I also realized that I may need to pick out some SLG's instead, in case my friend is traveling a lot.![]()
That's right, the VAT is included in the prices. I forgot so you don't need to add 23% to the total quoted online. So, the neverfull MM is 710 british pounds which is about $1,060 US dollars. You'll get a VAT refund of maybe 15%, so roughly $150 US so right around $900 US dollars total. It'll be a little more due to the processing fee for the VAT refund.
And, definitely, this is the time to stock up lol. I'm hoping to go to Europe later this year but who knows what the exchange rates will be then.
