That's a good idea. I had heard France had the best prices, but it would be interesting to actually do a comparison.

The mono canvas speedy 30 is $620 here in U.S.

LV France website lists the same bag at 415 Euros, which translates to $537.31 at today's rates.

LV UK has the mono canvas speedy 30 for 310 Pounds, which is roughly $612.57

I don't know how to find the prices in other countries...
Wow, I had know Ideal their was a difference in price. I will be looking on website for prices from now on thank you.:D:D:D

Value added tax, it's just a sales tax on goods. I think it's 19.6% in France and is already included in the price.

You'll be able to claim the VAT back so bring your passport and ask the SA for the forms.

It may be cheaper to pay in Euros as the conversation rates on charge cards tend to be lower.

If you pay in Euros then, you can still get the VAT back? Will they give it to you in Euros though? I assume there is an exchange at the airport, but their rates might not be that great either.. Anyone paid in Euros?

Thanks !!!! :)

definitely France ,but if you are anywhere else in Europe you d still get a good deal.
for example I got the brea mm in Poland last year and it was $1875 after getting the tax back,I d have paid $2530 plus taxes in the US !! so I saved $832 dollars
now it would have been even cheaper if I had bought it in France ( about 80€)
check the prices on the website and compare, remember the prices in any European website include taxes (about 19%) that you d be getting back before leaving the EU
to get the exact amount you d get back go to the website www.globalblue.com ,click on tax calculator and you ll see which country gives you the best deal ( taxes are a bit different from country to country ) Austria is pretty good because they give u like 24 % back! but France will always be the best, less tax back but also lower prices :)
if you choose to get the tax back on ur credit card, you will be charged like 3 % so u better get the cash and......do NOT forget to ask for the tax refund form at the store!I ve seen people literally crying coz they didn't have one,it's not enough with the receipts ,the SA needs your passport info and all.....

They will ask you what currency you want ,I always get euros.the only time I got dollars was when I asked them to put the money on my credit card, the charged a commission and the conversion wasn't the best but still ok,I had no choice I left the EU by ship and they didn't have any refund points at the pier!

The best is use a no foreign transaction credit card to buy in France. So, mainly the basic exchange rate from Euros to USD, and you could get about 12% of the listed price as VAT return. And you could benefit more when the euros <-> USD exchange rate is low. I got my speedy 30 from France in late 2012, and I believe it is like USD$600 after the VAT refund, it is USD$910 now and may go up more after March!!

yeah , i didnt mind getting Euros because i know i Will need them anyway as I go to Europe quite often due to the job...I'm not sure about the credit card you mentioned ,I only have one and it's actually a debit card, which is the one I used that time....the savings are amazing I know! as I said in another post I saved more than $800 when I got the Brea in Poland last year :)
