If she has the 40% off letter or a special discount, why only this bag? It's a mystery!

She can make more money selling an expensive bag bought with the 40% than to just sell the discount letter or a cheaper bag. She would make $100 to $200 depending on whether someone did the buy it now. Maybe she picked this bag because it is expensive and popular.
The seller is a blogger and the bidders are probably her readers. Apparently a lot of people were asking her about this bag and I even remember at least two people asking for an ID on the style here on tpf using her photo. And the high price could be because bidders are willing to pay more if they know the money is going to charity. Or they really really want that Sage!

Yes, because she doesn't actually have the bag yet. From her listing, it sounds like she will buy it after the buyer chooses a color.
