Here is a comparison shot of my 2005 Indigo City to the medium Rodeo for you.

And, finally a couple of mod shots. I think that the medium Rodeo is plenty of bag for daily wear. The large Rodeo would be too much for a daily purse. Overall, I'm very pleased with this purchase. I don't know if all of the wear is from the factory or not, but it does seem unlikely that so much rubbing would happen on the sides of the bag from normal wear, and not the front or back. In any case, this is exactly the Rodeo for me. I like this saddle color and the wear, as opposed to the black leather Rodeo, which looked too sleek for my taste.

Gorgeous on you!!!

I agree and think it is intended wear... I went to look last week at the store in Soho/NY and saw this wear on the back of the display unit:

Funny because I was just in a proper ranching store, where "real" cowboys shop, and all the jeans and leather goods are so new so that cowboys can wear them in as much as they need. I guess Bal really wanted that ready-made cowboy look, hehe... kind of like those pre-worn in Golden Goose sneakers, lol.

Here's a comparison to my SS 02 (dark) Caramel Hobo:

The chevre Hobo was still much softer, however the Cowboy was still relatively (and surprisingly to me) quite soft!

Thank you for your lovely comments, and the photo of a factory fresh tan Cowboy Rodeo. I love the saddle tan leather color, and your beautiful caramel Hobo is gorgeous. So then, in Balenciaga terminology, tan is the leather color, and Cowboy is the rubbed look, like a well-worn saddle bag.

It sounds like @fayden was exactly right in her call that the reseller didn’t realize that this wear was intentional. Thank you again, Fayden.

My new-to-me medium Rodeo in tan cowboy has arrived. Many, many thanks to @fayden for the find. The color is gorgeous, the bag is so pretty, and the leather still has that new leather smell.

This bag definitely has a worn effect, concentrated for the most part on the sides, and the bottom side edges. There are a few scratches on the front and back, but they are scratches, not rubbing like I see on the sides.

The bag included the long strap and the dust bag, both of which were shipped inside of the bag.

Ahhhh looks great to me. I'm actually really liking the worn look these days over a pristine bag.

I love my mini Cowboy, whenever I carry her, I can't stop petting the leather, it is just so soft and supple.

OK guys I am going to amend that the bag is not fake but is horribly dyed, and I believe it was sold on VC a few months ago:

This is the VC bag This is tRR bag

I circled certain flaws and creasing that are consistent between both, but obviously the dye job really faded out in a few months, because it looked much more even in the original picture.

The one on top “horribly” dyed was mine. Was “restored” by LMB and sold in VC of course specifying in the description the bag was dyed. Buyer was notified about this fact again once it arrived to VC for quality & authentication inspection and went ahead with the transaction. I shouldn’t need to give any explanations but wanted to make it clear who did the “restoration”. For this they charged me $600 plus shipping back fee. They didn't even bother to replace the handles lace and painted over them or cleaning properly the hardware of paint traces (had to make myself). It took at least three months or more to be done and when received had to send it back to them again because as usual, handles were sticky. This took a month and a half more I guess?. Just wanted everyone knew this.

You're not alone, LostInBal. LMB destroyed one of my bags too -- did a ridiculous job on the handles AND repainted the whole bag without my permission. Never again.

For more inri, when I got it after the second handle retouch I emailed them because I was not satisfied with the result (once more). What do you think they said? Their response was that they would send some paint to me so I could paint it myself. The paint never arrived and that was the last straw that broke the camel's back.

Unacceptable. They just don't care.
