@purseaddict0789 returned the bag so Iām not sure. I just know dry rot is death to leather, but Iāve never held that particular bag in my hands. Maybe PA0789 has insight; I was also curious about the visual look, something definitely happened.
From my understanding dry rotting most often comes from being exposed to extreme conditions heat, humidity, moisture, etc. Idk how to describe it, but itās pretty obvious when you touch it

I'm gathering it's not salvageable with a generous dose of moisturizer?
I think it's like mold/not salvageable.
Heat combined with salt air and little ventilation can throw leather goods for a loop.
My parents have those conditions and my dad wore a pair of leather shoes, that he hadn't worn in a while, to the airport to come visit me. He calls me at the airport, "protein_ need you to run over to Camper to get me a new pair of shoes." His shoes literally disintegrated as he was walking, leaving a trail of rotted leather through the airport - he had travel slippers with him, otherwise it would have been absolutely hilarious to picture him going through immigration with barely two flaps of shoes on his feet.
I think prevention is the only solution via those humidity/moisture absorber things.

This is a Depop thing: I just reported someone today for listing one of those tie dye bags for $435; same bag is on Ebay/Posh for $2500 (no way in hell that seller is listing one of those Etsy-fied creations that cheap!). CS got back to me ASAP & removed the listing, so at least their miles ahead of Posh in taking action.
Hey yāall, I bought and returned (so itās going to be re-listed) this Parme city - just be aware has yellowing on the piping all around, and there are areas where the stitching is noticeably (but only slightly) purple against the leather colorā¦ I think that is jus how the bag is made, not necessarily wear or a flaw.
Itās a beautiful bag and good condition leather, but if youāre OCDish (or āvery particularā š©) - I suggest you pass on it.
